Btw, Tony Bernzard was fired today. Omar challenged Adam Rubin's piece, saying he wanted Tony's job. This team, organization, ownership is a mess.

I was at the game last night- wasn't feeling too confident when it was 3-1! Seeing 4 home runs was an unexpected treat, especially Tatis's! Their pitching, unless things dramatically improve, is what's killing any wild card chances- it won't matter much if Reyes, Delgado and Beltran come back if that doesn't improve. Too bad since the door's open for any team(s) that can get hot (as Colorado has proved)- after Philly and the Dodgers the NL isn't very impressive.

Even though Niese lost tonight there's some hope that he can fill in a needed steady performer in their rotation. Let's Go Mets! I'm excited about attending the 8/22 game celebrating the accomplishments of the 1969 Mets! People say it was an upset them beating the Orioles, but back then, it was the National League that was clearly better overalll and that team won 100 games in the tougher league- I don't buy the opinion that that was an upset. They played clutch baseball all season with of course the pitching performances dominating, but lots of the role players, even lesser pitchers, had the seasons of their lives! When it comes to optimizing the talents of what you have, no team ever in professional sports has accomplished more! There have been more talented and successful teams, but no better teams in the true sense of the word!

It's been quite a season- not many good things except for Castillo, maybe Pagan and Santos, Sheffield and Feliciano doing better than I expected. I attended Saturday's game and am wearing my '69 commemorative tee right now. The ceremony was well done. I didn't hear (or missed, but I don't think so) any mention of Ken Boswell which was odd since they seemed to intend to mention everyone including the deceased and unable to attend- not that he was a favorite or anything. I recall some inane comment from him about not eating eggs because he didn't want to eat anything that came out of a chicken's butt.

It seemed to me that they were being respectful of the ceremony. There were alot of them there and they were prettty obnoxious once the game turned their way. No more Wagner- hope we get lucky and the two players to be named amount to something.
