President Obama may get to appoint a Supreme Court Justice sooner than anticipated. Although Justice Ginsburg was diagnosed early, the mortality rates for pancreatic cancer are pretty depressing. Assuming she is replaced soon, it would not affect the balance of the court as he would certainly appoint someone at least as liberal as her.

If Associate Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg does step down, which I think would be a very good option for her and the country, I hope Obama's choice is: Elena Kagan.

She is progressive, she has shown she can work with brilliant right-wingers without surrendering her principles, and she's the Solicitor General-nominee. (Has she been confirmed yet?)

Another possible option: Justice Sonia Sotomayor, of New York.

Have you ever noticed that we've never seen Justice Ginsburg in the same room as Margaret Hamilton?

Do you think they could be one and the same person?

Sorry! Couldn't resist! laugh.gif

Wish the justice a speedy recovery!

She may look like Margaret Hamilton but her rulings exhibited the heart of Billie Burke's character.

Though I know it could never happen politically, I'm sticking with Anita Hill as my favorite for a nominee to the Court.

Just the thought of Justice Clarence Thomas doing his best Rod Blagojevich/Bill Clinton act with her sitting on the bench with him for the rest of his career is just to sweet.
