I had thought that the controversy involving the Spanish men's Olympic basketball team doing the
slanty-eye thing was the last we would see of that dated gesture. But apparently not.
Miley Cyrus was photographed with a group of friends doing the same thing! Why do white people think it's funny do do the chinky eye thing? Are they secretly jealous of Asian people? The funniest part is that the Asian guy in the photo actually has big eyes!
The not-funny part is that some Asian woman in L.A. has launched a $4 billion
lawsuit because "each Asian Pacific Islander in LA County, which the suit approximates to be around 1 million, is entitled to a minimum of $4,000 for a civil rights violation stemming from the photograph."
Good lord, are we Asian people so sensitive?! Can't we just spit in her moo goo gai pan the next time she orders Chinese food... and call it even?

While the lawsuit is ridiculous, there have been too many of these things to chalk it up to Miley being Miley. She just seems like a real mega-shrew bitch. This may sound harsh but i don't think I'd be too upset if Chris Brown had knocked the snot out of her instead of Rhianna. And spitting in her moo goo gai pan sounds fine too.

Why is it limited to each Asian Pacific Islander in LA County? Thanks to the Internet, people all over the nation and the world can see that picture. Why shouldn't they be included?
And I'm not Asian but I'm still offended. Can't I get some of that $4 billion too for MY pain and suffering?

Um, some guy is putting up his fingers behind someone's head, in a devil-like fashion...when are the Satan worshipers going to jump on them? Where is the ACLU? As a Catholic, I am insulted...I want my payday! This whole thing is silly...they are ALL goofing for the camera. Since when does goofing for the camera and pulling parts of your face in odd contortion a slam against an ethnic group? This world is getting waaaay too touchy. Grow some skin, people!

Thank you! You said what I didn't have the guts to say! Imagine if we sued every celebrity that ever made a stereotypical gay gesture!

See the guy with his hand to his mouth...I think he's really making fun of Native Americans and doing some mock-Native-American war cry. Damn, that's another how many billion, right there?

No, I think he's trying to do the "giggling Asian school girl" schtick. Margaret Cho does it in her acts.
The lawsuit is ridiculous! It was a stupid and insensitive gesture on the part of teenagers. More offensive was then-Senator Al D'Amato going on Imus during the O.J. Simpson trial and speaking as Judge Ito in a fake Japanese accent. An elected official? Unbelievable!

This lawsuit is ridiculous. These are clearly young kids being well...young kids. This is no different from when white people throw up their "west side" hand signs and make stereotypical black gestures, or black people talking "valley girl" and "surfer dude" mocking white people. No need for a lawsuit for a penny. Sure some will be offended, and it would be their right to be offended. Its not PC but really!!! This is ridiculous. But, Miley is a celebrity and when you are a celebrity and in any picture, ya better be prepared for it to possibly resurface somewhere.

i work and ride with this black woman once a week, and she told me she loves monkeys. we have become good friends. she collects figures, toys, anything that has a monkey. so for her birthday, I got her a stuff monkey. she was so happy she hugged and kissed me on the cheeks and then showed the stuff toy around (it really was cute and soft). Well, a couple of women at work found out, and said my gift was offensice, that I was mocking her and I am an asian racist. I was so pissed and still shake when I think of it. My friend felt so bad about it.
as for that lawsuit... I hope the judge throws it out right away, and have that woman pay for the court cost. this really didn't deserve any media coverage.

Jeffery, you gave a gift out of love. Don't let haters take space in your head without paying rent. Definately don't let them shake you. You know love...you are above the hate.

Thanks Millerbeach--- but I am having a hard time shaking it though. I thought I could get pass at it. I see them in the hallways, and I still get the looks from other people. No malice intended, but I am in this real uncomfortable position. It's sad that people have come down to this level.

Well what did the black woman you gave the gift to say to the people? Did she explain her love of monkeys and that it was a gift that was given because of that? I mean personally no one should have to explain shyt because they are clearly up in the kool-aid and have no clue what the flavor is. Sometimes people are too sensitive. Sure there are lots of issues that are racist, but this is not one of them. Thats a real shame. Sorry you are having to deal with that.

you see, she did explain to them that she collects stuff monkeys, but they told her that I should NOT have even done that. that blows my mind because my friend wasn't offended, but they were.
I worked from home today so it's a relief that I don't see them. And the weird thing is, I can't even walk with dignity even though I know I didn't do anything wrong, but the judgement was just too harsh. I know this will pass, but right now, I am both angry and disgusted, and at the same time, humiliated by the whole incident. I can say that I have been mistreated because of my race (not just by whites but by other races to) and I don't deserve to be labeled as someone who insults people because of their race.
