Ok so I'm flipping through the channels last night and see this show on called Right America: Feeling Wronged on HBO. I look at the synopsis and see that it is Alexandra Pelosi's (daughter of Nancy) documentary as she travels through Republican rallies in 28 states leading up to last year's election. OHHHHH....MY GAWD!!!! It was so disturbing the amount of ignorance that was coming from those people. This one guy had on how he was against socialism on the back of his t shirt, but didn't even have it spelled right. When pointed out to him he swore it was spelled right, and then he didn't even know what it meant. Alexandra asked him what socialism meant and he was like I don't know I'll look it up, and proceeded to try and look it up on his phone. Then he tried to wing it and said it was Hitler thoughts and a "cross between communism and---uh I don't know some other word I can't think of" rolleyes.gif I know that there are McCain supporters out there who are not as ignorant as most of the people in this documentary are but back your shyt up with facts instead of this "he's a Muslim" or "he's the anti-christ" or "he's going to be sworn in on the Koran" or "he will take his mask off and it will be Osama Bin Laden when he's sworn in" foolishness. Talk about CRAZY!!!!

Then you have the lady who said she was moving to Costa Rica if Obama won the election. Oh honey....CLEARLY you didn't do your research on that one. You are going to leave (what I assume) is your conservative little town for Costa Rica???!!! And of course the guy who said he would move to Canada if Obama won. Umm..well....Canada is A LOT MORE PROGRESSIVE than the United States. So CLEARLY you didn't think that one through either. Oh my god I kept looking for something to throw at the television the whole time I was watching this. Sean Hannity made an appearance at some rally and was like "hey yall know this is Nancy Pelosi's daughter". She was like "ARE YOU TRYING TO GET ME LYNCHED?" Ugh!!! She was also there and had a different and much more up close angle of the crazy red shirt lady who said Obama was an Arab. Poor McCain. As it got toward the end of the campaign you could tell on his face that he was like "jesus some of these people are f**king nuts"

It was a real interesting documentary, but not an eye opener. Again, I know there are crazies on BOTH sides, but this was some straight foolishness from some of the most close minded people that have the right to vote and bear arms.

So I'm guessing this film won't be getting a thumbs up from the RNC? Hope it airs up hear soon, but please tell the guy who wants to move to Canada to stay south of the border, we're kinds socialist up here, LOL, heck we even vacation in Cuba.

I always thought the right-wingers wanted to move to New Zealand, but I guess that country, like Australia, is a bit too secular and run by leftists too. Where to go, where to go? There's always Italy, which has a right-wing government right now, and a real character, Berlusconi, leading it.

Of course France also has a right-wing, devoutly Roman Catholic president and a conservative-majority assembly leading it as well, but I somehow don't thing France is ever on the right-wing's map, except in secret. So I guess that leaves Germany....!

Not sure how devotedly RC President Sarko is since he is now upon his 3rd wife, former super model Carla Bruni, but no matter how conservative the government the French could never be be considered right wing in an American sense. Some of your more wingnut ultra-conservatives would likely feel more comfortable in Putins Russia or perhaps Taliban controlled areas of Afghanistan.

In about 100 years I predict there will be less and less Republicans of this nature.

I think that there are already fewer Republicans of that nature. Losing an election has that effect.

And I suspect most who haven't changed that "nature" (though I think it has more to do with nurture) are currently either praying that Obama fails, or that he will suffer a spiritual conversion to their radical pseudo-Christianity due to a confrontation with what they see as reality: the world hates us because we're beautiful.

One of the big disappointments in life comes from expecting people to do or think the obvious only to have their true nature come out.

Radical Republicans? Namely some of the wackos for the McCain campaign? Videos from YouTube. I'm sure Mr. McCain himself asked himself how these weirdos came about.

Err what? Explain. Their true nature or mine?

As much as it may pain me to say anything good about the majority of Republicans, I will say that most are not "wackos". Many are extreme, mislead or deceptive; but that does not make them crazy, nor does it make their politicians any more deceptive than most Democratic politicians.

However there is a larger segment of Republicans that is insensitive to others. This is not a "natural" deficit but what is, in my opinion, an ideological error on their part. They assume that all human effort must be individual and that is "natures" way - often arrogantly called "the American way".

In nature species that cooperate with their own kind are more successful than those that maim or kill their own kind. That this does not conflict with Darwinian theory is one of the critical misunderstandings of Republican pop culture.

Another assumption is that tribalism within the human species is a necessary and natural behavior that always allows the strongest to survive, thereby strengthening the overall species. In fact a decrease in intra-species conflict increases its likelihood of surviving and thriving when it faces a greater threat from outside that species, either from another species or from natural events. Humans are unique among animals, that we know, in being able to plan for threats far in to the future then consciously and collectively avoiding them.
