France lost to the Czechs? Simon won neither of his matches?? Wow, I would have thought Tsonga and Simon would have been more than enough for Berdych and Stepanek in the singles rubbers. In fact, with so many talented guys in or around the top 20, I would have thought France's depth would have made them a real contender for this year's cup.
Israel is 2-2 with Sweden?
¿Que? Sela beat Johansson and Levy and Vinciguerra have split their first two sets. I guess since the aging one-slam-wonder-Johansson is now below #150 in the world and the best other player they could offer up was Vinciguerra this shouldn't be
that much of a surprise, but damn...I guess I'm remembering how big Sweden was as a Davis Cup force, and as a tennis powerhouse in general, in the 80's and 90's (heck, they even made it to the semis as recently '07) and how it's such a big deal for that country. After what happened to Peer in Dubai and the silly protesting currently going on at this Davis cup match, I have to admit that I kind of hope that Israel wins it.
