I am a Mets fan in NJ...would love start a gay Mets fan group in the NY/NJ area...maybe go to a game a month as a group...get together to watch big games at member homes/sports bars etc...Anyone interested?

Wow, you're in Wayne! We are practically neighbors...I was just at the Costco up there last night...I'm 37...my partner, Erik, is 33 and could care less about baseball, so watching Mets games is very solitary experience...What do you think of the team this year?

Yeah my boyfriend could care less about baseball either. You'd figure after 4 years he'd catch on, but I guess not.
I think we will have a very good team this year. I'm definitely looking forward to opening day!

Hey Guys - Good to see there are other Gay Mets fans out there, and I don't mean just because of the gay thing!! I know at least one other just-as-frustrated gay Mets fan.

How about getting a Mets Outsports day going? We could meet at a gay bar first and then head out to Shea. Darrin, js1metsfan... your thoughts?

I'm an evil Yankees fan, but I like the Mets as well. Yes, such people exist. I would like to get together for some games as well. Watching at a bar, or going to a game.

I am a lifelong Yankee fan, but would be up for some Met games if it meant actually watching with other gay baseball fans. As a matter of fact, I'll be seeing the Mets twice in spring training next week - vs. Baltimore on Saturday and vs. the Cardinals on Monday.

If you want to enlarge your circle, if you Mets fans want to go to a Sunday Mets v. Phillies game at Shea (we already know who will win, the question is would it be safe for me to wear Phillies red at Shea) - this season on Sunday July 13th and Sunday August 31st, I'd love to join you. You are also invited to come down to the Vet for the last Phillies/Mets game to be played in the Vet, on Sunday September 7th. Keep me posted.

I'd love to see the Phillies at Shea! We went last summer when Benitez blew a save (big shocker). The game went to the 12th or 13th inning until Weathers (I think) allowed the Phillies to go ahead. I think it was Jimmy Rollins who scored what turned out to be the winning run. Woo-hoo!

So, yeah, if evil Yankee fans are invited, count my partner and me in. I'll even wear my Phillies cap.

Yankee fan here for the most part but grew up a Mets-head and still have a soft spot for my Shea guys.

Well, the dates suggested for Mets-Phils at Shea were Sunday July 13th and Sunday August 31st, but I imagine those in/near NYC might well want to meet for some other game. Maybe someone could take charge of planning something definite.

Let's also consider an evening game in the summer, say on a Friday night since most of us would not have to go to work the following day. They're fun and with the warm weather the night makes for a very enjoyable evening.

There's a chance I may be in town on the July 12 weekend (Phils @ Mets).... Has this thread expired like the Mets?

Phils-Mets are Thurs. 7/10 through Sun. 7/13. I might be there for the 10th or 11th. I haven't finalized any plans yet.

Plans are looking more definite. Any Mets/Phillies fans up for a game on the weekend of the 12th? (Friday the 11th is possible if you're in town J-i-P.)

I can do July 11th, or even July 12th if it's not a 1:00 game. Happy to help with picking up any tickets for folks or anything else that might help.....

If it encourages people to show up for this, let me comfort you that I'll be in Denver that weekend.

See you all Friday...and no, I'm not taking the laptop.

Well, I guess we missed out on MetsBoy and JerseyGuy. The rest of us had fun, and the Phils spanked the Mets 10-3 with Pat Burrell actually hitting a home run! So my road record is now 1-1. wink And canmark and I stayed after the game for the post-game Merengue Night concert. There's a guy in a group called "Los Hermanos Rosario" who seriously needs to join the cast of "Take Me Out."

It was another fun Outsports reunion for me. Good to see Joe in Philly, scottie, MunsonMan, pat125 & friend again! We sat up in the nosebleeds amongst a sizable contingent of vocal, flag-waving Dominicans and a number of Philly fans. After the rain-delayed game Joe & I stayed for the merengue concert, shaking our booties to the latin music like we were Ricky Martin.
