Ron Silver Dies at 62Ashame. I thought he was a wonderful actor. Its ashame that work for him dried up simply because he turned into a 9/11 Republican and supported GWB in the war. I certainly disagreed with his later political views but that didn't stop me from appreciating his great acting skills. But, they call it liberal Hollywood for a reason, and just as in many corporate circles if you aren't conservative enough you can't get into the good ole boys clubs, it does work that way in liberal Hollywood too. He was great as Alan Dershowitz in one of my film favorites, Reversal of Fortune. I didn't even know he was battling cancer so it was quite the shock when I heard it this morning. 62 is way too young. R.I.P. Ron.

It really is too bad that Hollywood is so hypocritical about encouraging everyone else to be accepting, tolerant, etc., yet when one of their own turns out to be anything other than liberal, they turn on that person and ostracize him/her, just like what happened during the McCarthy hearings decades ago.
Personally, I can care less how right-wing or left-wing an actor or actress is. I look at their individual performances and don't base my opinion of them on whether they liked or disliked Bush, Clinton or any other Republican or Democrat.

According to Silver's brother, his last vote was for a centrist named Barack Obama.
I think his best film was Paul Mazursky's Enemies: A Love Story.
