TFC have one win under their belt with an impressive 3-2 win at Kansas City Saturday - only their fifth ever win in the team's history away from the friendly and raucous confines of BMO Filed. Just in time to give Toronto sports fans reason for hope as both the Leafs and Raptors play out the string in meaningless games as the NHL and NBA seasons wind down.

De Rosario was impressive in his TFC debut creating all kinds of offensive chances on a team that has sadly lacked any offensive punch through most games of its first two seasons. He did miss a penalty shot though - that would have sealed the game in the 80th minute which made for a bit of a nail biting finish. The scoring hero was Amado Guevara with two of the goals for TFC. Unfortunately we'll be without Guevara this weekend at Columbus as he has an International with Honduras somewhere.

I wonder if the Red Patch boys and other TFC fan clubs are planning on blitzing Columbus like they did for the opening game last year when over 5,000 fans made the trip.

I'm sure the Red Patch Boys will be there in strength. I just saw the highlights of the KC v. TOR match and DeRo looked good. Great assist to Brennan. The Dynamo v. CLB match got better as it went along. Brian Ching scored the first season goal which relieved a lot of tension. I think the realization that DeRo is no longer here finally hit everyone. CLB came on strong at the end and we luckily came away with a point at home! I hope y'all take care of them this weekend. The Dyanmo will be in San Jose.

I'm really excited because the Seattle team is finally MLS.... smile.gif smile.gif smile.gif and the Sounders are off to a good start!!

Glad to see Seattle is undefeated and hasn't allowed a goal this year.

Hey WSU - The Sounders certainly spoiled TFC's home opener with a 2 - 0 win. TFC played better against Dallas this past Saturday - but let the visitors score a late goal in the 88th minute to tie 1 - 1. The teams play again this weekend in Dallas.

So after a win and draw on the road TFC only picked up one of the possible six points in their first two home games. That is very disappointing - since we are supposed to have a huge home field advantage because of the crowd at BMO Field.

It is about 3 weeks until my first game at BMO this year. I'm going to Game One of the Canada Cup - CONCACAF matches with the Vancouver Whitecaps in town on Wednesday May 6th. Surely after the embarrassment of losing to the Whitecaps here last year on Canada Day - TFC will come out all guns blazing against the Whitecaps this year. I hope so at least as my brother and brother-in-law are driving into T.O. that night to join me for that game. I've talked up how fun the games and crowd are at any family get together the last couple of years and they jumped at the chance to see a game - when I said I could get all three seats my friend has as season tickets for that game. Realistically as my brother pointed out to me when I was back home at his place over Easter last weekend - my contact with a season ticket holder was their only hope to get to a game this year with all home games for the entire season sold out for weeks already. Demand is just crazy! So I'm looking forward to a 'Family Guys Night Out' with TFC. Should be fun!

Well tonight is my first sort of MLS game of the year. It is really the start of the new CONCACAF championships with Vancouver Whitecaps (soon to be an MLS team) at BMO Field against TFC. From the sounds of it Toronto are taking this tournament more seriously this year and will be fielding their 'best' lineup according to stories in the toronto papers' sports sections today.

I'm at work already decked out all in red - ready to rock at BMO Field tonight. Looking forward to it!

Have fun with that!

Toronto FC seem to really be heading the right direction this season with a roster now that is much stronger than at anytime in their short history. They're second in the conference and play Houston - leaders of the other conference this Saturday at BMO Field.

BMO Field will be packed - as always . But the crowd likely will not be as rowdy as normal - or maybe they'll add a word to their 'This is our house!' cheer, changing it to 'This is our DRY house! It seems BMO Field has had its beer and licquor license suspended for one game for an infraction for selling to a minor at a game last month. So without the 3 or 4 jumbo Carlsberg to fuel them during the game - how much quieter will it be. Unless of course all the nearby pubs like the Brazen Head - see all the TFC fans arrive early and stay at the pubs until the last minute to maximize the pre-game drinks - so at first it may be even rowdier than normal until the pre-game beers begin to wear-off. Still some of the usual BMO Field beer sellers will be losing a lot of money without the beer sales tomorrow.

I'll be curious to see how the Philadelphia Union are shaping up for their 2010 debut, and even more interested in how the Chester Stadium will work out.

At least it's not named for the major corporate sponsor. With much of the money coming from county and state coffers it would seem to be subbing as a stimulus project.

Hopefully it will generate some long-term jobs after the construction of the stadium and service logistics. I certainly prefer it to casinos.

MLS All Stars take on my boys in Blue, Everton tonight on ESPN 2.

I'll take the Blues.

And in a shootout - it was your Blues after the actual game ended 1 - 1. No TFC players played for the MLS All-Stars as they were busy losing the first game of the home and home CONCACAF Champions League round to a team from Puerto Rico 1 - 0 at the same time the MLS All Star game was being played. Strange scheduling I think.

TFC outplayed the Puerto Ricans but just could not buy a goal as Puerto Rico often loaded up with as many as 8 of their own players back in the box defensively. They scored on about the only good chance they had all night long. So now TFC will have to advance the hard way by winning down in Puerto Rico and scoring more than one road goal.

Busy little stretch for TFC and not a good start. Last Saturday allowing two goals in the last 15 minutes - the last in extra time as they lost 3-2 in Columbus, then Wednesday's loss 1 - 0 to Puerto Rico. This Saturday they play in New England then on to Puerto Rico for the return match with the Islanders on Tuesday before returning home for a Friday night match-up with Renaldo and Real Madrid with real grass installed at BMO Field for just that one match. That's 5 games in less than 2 weeks! Ouch!

Christiano Ronaldo, Kaka and Real Madrid are in Toronto tonight to play a friendly vs. Toronto FC. Last night, 18,000 attended Real Madrid's practice at BMO Field, which went to great expense to add natural grass over the artificial surface. Sportsnet article with video.

Yup - it is Real Madrid / Renaldo Mania in Toronto today with coverage of the team and Renaldo in particular - EVERYWHERE including stories on a number of the national newscasts and national sports programs in addition to blanket local coverage. Here is just a small sample of the stories Toronto area media have blitzed us with.

Tickets to the sold out game were too expensive for my snack bracket though. The season tickets my friend has that I get for 2-3 games each season at BMO Field - which go for about $70.00 for regular season MLS games were priced at $215.00 for this friendly. Too pricey for me. I'll watch on TV thanks.

Real Madrid showed their quality over Toronto FC. Highlights of the 5-1 game.

Video of Real Madrid arriving in Toronto.

Steve Nash was at the game and was interviewed from the sidelines. Apparently Chris Bosh was there, too.
