Another World Cup Qualifying game for the Americans this weekend against El Salvador. I'm sure the Americans will/can win but a hostile environment awaits. USA will play at Trinidad and Tobago on April 1st on ESPN2.

I only caught the third goal of that hat trick by Jozy Altidore in the
USA - T&T qualifier, but this guy looks like he could be just what the USA needs to help Donovan up front with the scoring load.
These two could be explosive.
I'm looking forward to 2010 more and more.

I'm glad the USA won vs Trinidad and Tobago but tied El Salvador. I think we're setting ourselves up good for World Cup 2010. Hopefully we can at least get to the semifinals in South Africa. That would be sweet.

Another thing I liked about the T&T win was the brilliant and beautiful passing shown by the USA players after they got the lead and were more interested in keeping the ball, even when they got within the outer box of the Trinidadians.
It's tough to make targeted no-think passes in that situation and you have to be alert (to make the pass) and relaxed (to know where your teammates are and how to get the ball to them through the thicket of defenders) at the same time.
You're depending on "instinct" which comes with skill and practice. USA players are developing that more now than before.
Zinadine Zidane, the master of the art-form, could manage the task so well that almost the only way to stop him was to foul - which weren't always called, and generated a lot of retaliation on his part.
But it was not magic, even if it looked that way. The guy was just good, and born with vision that is much like that of baseball players who have quick-reaction eyesight to see a ball hurled ninety miles an hour and guess from its rotation where it will cross the plate.
Altidore may have scored the points in that T&T game but the passes were Donovan's natural skill and effort.

Looks like the next game is in June for the Americans.
