Just heard on ESPN that Madden is done. Too bad he wouldn't do one final season. I've always liked him doing the games.

Wow! That must mean that Brett Favre is done for good this time!!!! laugh.gif

But don't worry; All you Matt Millen haters will be begging for Madden to come back when Matt takes over the job.... tongue.gif

Does this mean Frank Caliendo will retire too? Please? God? Please?

From your lips Maddog...from you lips. And Caliendo also lost W to the last election. I don't know how he'll fill that brilliant show of his now. rolleyes.gif

He doesn't have a show any more...at least not on TV. biggrin.gif

I went into my bathroom and turned on the radio there, which is tuned to the sports-talk station, and the host was wrapping up a segment before going to a sports news update and said something about "no more John Madden doing football games." I immediately thought, coming off the Harry Kalas news, that Madden was dead. Then the update guy did some stories and then added the news that Madden was retiring. What a relief. smile.gif I could see him not being fully retired, though. He could perhaps do an occasional game on the West Coast the way Keith Jackson did for NCAA games after he announced his retirement.

My favorite announcer of all time. I am also glad he isn't dead which is what I thought I read when I pulled up yahoo. Amazing voice who had a way of making things like winning and working hard on the field seem like moral values to embrace. I usually agreed with his analysis but even if I didn't what he said came from his heart as what was common sense to him so you had to respect it. And he loved Troy Aikman, Michael Irvin, and Emmitt Smith. cool.gif Will definitely miss football Sundays after church with roast beef, green beans, mashed potatoes, and sodas. But since I am not in high school anymore those days rarely happen.

The end of an era. Sad but the man is in his mid 70s. Time to enjoy the remaining years with family and not all of that freakin bus traveling from coast to coast. Thanks for the memories John. Enjoy your new life.

Football just won't be the same without the familiar voice of John Madden.
