Tickets go on sale this week for 2 pre-season games on Saturday April 3rd and Sunday April 4th at Citizens Bank Ballpark. I am going to be buying a large block of tickets for friends, etc. for the Saturday game, the first game to ever be played in the new ballpark. Game is vs. Cleveland Indians at 1:05 PM. If anyone wants me to get them tickets, a little Outsports contigent can sit together, kind of like at Gay Day last August. Just let me know by Tuesday if you want tickets and if so, how many. Not sure of prices, will probably be buying the $25 or $20 tickets, depending on what is available.

Put me down for one, please. Whatever price you order is fine with me.

I'll have to try and order tickets for the Sunday game (which is on your Sunday plan).

Thought I'd bump this up in case anyone didn't see it.

*Bump.*

I'd love to get down there for the big unveiling, but can't. Too bad, too, 'cause I have friends in Philly. wink

Tell me, guys, why are they opening the ballpark with these "pre-season" games, rather than waiting until the regular season home opener? And why are these Spring Training games being played on a team's home field rather than in Florida or Arizona? This might give the Phils an unfair advantage in the all-important pre-season standings. rolleyes.gif Also, if there's a Grapefruit League and a Cactus League, will these be "Tastykake League" games? tongue.gif

We in Philly would love to have you anytime. And come see the new park, too. wink I think the preseason games serve as a dry run to see where they stand with regard to the new park, what they need to fix, see if everything's operating as it should, etc. I think other teams have done the same thing when opening a new park.

Tastykake league...I like it. I still wish they called it Tastykake Park. Oh well...they're actually calling it the On-Deck Series.

I'm not sure what the reason is for it, but I know the Giants did the same thing when Pac Bell Park was opening. They played an exhibition game against the Yankees; I was in San Francisco on business and scalped a couple of tickets. It was great to see the new ballpark, and it was two thirds full of Yanee fans and transplanted New Yorkers, so it sounded like Yankee Stadium West. smile.gif

Outsports is planning to have its convention in Philly on Memorial Day Weekend. Tentatively, we will be going to the Phillies-Braves game May 29. More details later.
Joe in Philly
My partial season plan includes 2 tickets for Friday 5/28. Assuming the convention is starting on Friday as it did last year, I suppose I'll have to pass those tickets on to my brother or something. It probably wouldn't be good to miss the initial meetings of those newcomers. wink
