Something of a coupe for Pennsylvania college wrestling to have icon Cael Sanderson coming to coach at Penn State after a storied career as one of the sport's best known commodity.
He seems to think he can convince Pennsylvania's considerable talent to stay at home, and that he can win that NCAA championship that eluded him at Iowa. Claims that it is about the money don't make much sense since he isn't getting a lot more if rumors are correct. Every athlete wants to win - just like every politician - so Sanderson should be right at home in PA with its party-hopping senator.
Interestingly a commentor on a YouTube training video using a homophobic smear to express frustration about Sanderson's abandonment of Iowa mentioned this blog which I hadn't heard of. The comment isn't worth linking but it does raise the question of the impact a Mormon Sanderson, coming from a state with gay marriage will have on Pennsylvania from a social standpoint, if any. I know nothing about his politics - and suspect he will steer clear of it, but sometimes events take over.
