None of the black firemen could pass this test. All of those who passed were white and one Hispanic.

The North was excluded from the emancipation laws instituted by Lincoln, and largely ignored during the forced desegregation imposed on the South by Civil Rights laws.

John Roberts' ideological purity does not seem to encompass the realities of history, nor the consequences of his rulings. I believe this is exactly why Barack Obama opposed his nomination to the Supreme Court.

But more important, it does not meet any requirement for "equal" treatment.
