What suggests James's ego is delicate is not that the tape was confiscated - a mere NBA regulatory formality according to the article you site - but the fact (assuming
this video of the dunk is legit) that James attempted immediate playground-style payback by attempting to go for a revenge dunk as soon as he got the ball back.
Another indication of the delicacy of his ego is the myriad of tattoos he wears, like so many other athletes who are so proud of the bodies they have to maintain for their job that they decorate them for public and
private (meaning their intimate
public) consumption. (BTW- note that the revenge dunk failed.)
But I think the strongest suggestion that he has a weak ego despite all of his accomplishments is this statement he made about his thoughts on having a closeted gay teammate:
QUOTE
"With teammates you have to be trustworthy, and if you're gay and you're not admitting that you are, then you are not trustworthy So that's like the No. 1 thing as teammates - we all trust each other. You've heard of the in-room, locker room code. What happens in the locker room stays in there. It's a trust factor, honestly. A big trust factor."
Nothing says weak ego like fear of being stared at in the nude by another guy who might have a sexual thought about you. I'm not that great looking but am often viewed sexually by women - and sometimes more. But I would not want them banished from sharing a locker room with me on that account. Perhaps James would claim that his statement has nothing to do with being stared at, but is all about upholding team morale. Well that is the same excuse used by the military to ban gays serving openly.
