I found
this link to be interesting. I'm sure many of us here can think of other films that oozed w/ best/worst homoerotic scenes. Too bad they didn't include foreign films or tv/cable shows cuz I'd certainly add (4 best) Antonio Banderas getting poop chuted in
Law of Desire (& the shower scene) & the MANY scenes of Christopher Meloni's character
Chris Keller in
Oz. What are your thoughts?
Most of the link's photos are off the mark as I would define homoeroticism. Wolverine? Good looking sure but there's no undercurrent of sexuality which is how I define homoeroticism.
Richard Gere dancing around in a jockstrap in 'Looking for Mr Goodbar' absolutely the most powerful scene my young eyes ever saw.
Then there's that scene with Jerry O'Connell. Oh wait, that happened to me in real life!

Two of my favorite sexy homoerotic scenes are in Pedro Almodovar's "Bad Education" - and they both feature hunky Gael Garcia Bernal. In the first scene, as Gael is about to get in the pool, he yanks down his tighty whities all the way to his pubes. But then he notices that his friend in the water is watching him, so he pulls them back up and dives in with his underwear on instead of naked. What a tease!!!
In the other hot scene Gael, wearing tight, short shorts, does pushups in his apartment as the older guy lusting after him eyes him with desire. I never thought someone doing pushups could be so sexy!!!

I'll never forget being a closeted undergrad and seeing Paul Verhoeven's
De Vierde Man at the Cambridge Film festival in 1984. There is a scene at the beginning of the film where the protagonist is in a church and looking at a life-size crucifix and day-dreaming that the Christ is a beautiful man come to life. Here's another great scene:
Who knew you could go at it in a crypt?Another great movie is
Sebastiane, a 1976 movie, which is a take on the legend of St. Sebastian.
The whole movie is homoerotic! And then, there is Franco Zeffirelli's
Romeo and Juliet. Leonard Whiting still has the most perfect butt in cinema history!

Here's a link to the blog where the photo is from and it has the scene. The link is NSFW!

No contest...My worst one was "Cruising" with Al Pacino. I was closeted and working on my college baseball team when that movie came out on videotape. I rented it, and when I watched it, I was almost scared straight. I thought if that was gay lifestyle, then, thank you, no.

Ditto!
...I also thought about the 3-way scene in the Mexican film
Y Tu Mama Tambien also w/ Gael.

Haven't seen this film in years, but the looooooong quasi-seduction scene in Merchant-Ivory's Maurice in which Maurice, played by James Wilby, and his roommate, played by a young Hugh Grant, nearly make out and almost kiss. No skin. (In fact, they're both dressed like Oxbridge undergrads.) Nothing happens; it's all build-up and no payoff. But, geez, what a great build-up! And it makes the scene where Maurice finally beds the gardener all the better.

Wow! I had forgotten about that movie. I also remember the scene where Jeroen Krabbé's character is peeping thru the keyhole watching that young stud bopping that "black widow."

I'll have to put
Sebastiane as a must-see on my film list...
That Roman "god" taking a shower reminds me of my youthful crush on
Steve Reeves. Especially when he had a beard. Biting fist!

This must be a meme. Now magazine in Toronto recently did
The Gayest Straight Movies of All Time with similar nominees (Top Gun, Lord of the Rings).
Huffington Post has just posted
Men's Iconic Swimsuit Moments which includes everything from Daniel Craig to Borat.
John Greyson's movies have a tremendous amount of homoeroticism. For example:
Lilies:
Proteus:

And his famous
Zero Patience (the
musical about AIDS), which featured (among other things), an 'ass**** duet.'

Altho I hardly ever watch Logo, but I happened to catch the last 1/2 hour of
Burnt Money this morn. So I looked for it on Hulu, found it & watched it. Wow! Very intense film w/ great acting & lots of tortured souls. Oh, & did I mention, it's a true story.

I had the pleasure of seeing this in the movie theatre in Argentina when it came out. Very good movie. I never thought Plata Quemada would come to the U.S.

In my case, the best and worst moments come from the same film. When I was a kid, my dad took the whole family to see Midnight Express. I must have been four or five. I already knew I liked other boys and that it wasn't really well-looked at by society. When the scene came up with Brad Davis's character kissing his cellmate, I was terrified. For some reason, I felt as if everybody knew what I was feeling inside. I felt exposed, as if suddenly the spotlight was on me. Obviously, I'd never seen two men being affectionate with each other or kissing before. It was really awkward. Years later, however, I remembered the scene as being really erotic.
I got to see Brad Davis in Fassbinder's Querelle in my early twenties and he was forever engraved in my universe as a gay icon.
In a somewhat related subject, the worst moment for me, this time in music, has got to be hearing salsa singer/songwriter Willie Colón's "El gran varón". Any Puerto Rican gay man I've known from my generation will tell you that they absolutely hate this song. It's about a kid who grew up "different". As an adult, he moves out of Puerto Rico, becomes a transvestite, therefore estranged from the family, and finally dies from Aids. The song is well-intentioned, but it wasn't the way it came off to us. It's from 1986 or '87, the time when Aids was thought to be the gay disease. I remember visiting my extended family in the projects at the time and this song was played everywhere. The isolation I felt as a young teenager is indescribable.

Speaking of
Willie Colon, did you now that
they finally released the Fania All Stars recordings on cd/mp3? Gawd those recordings bring back some wonderful memories when I was a kid!
