Burtsfield
This is just an update on a previous post.
I wrote a couple of years ago about finding a personal ad on a gay oriented website from my oldest son. I brought this up with him at the time. His response was kind of all over the map but the upshot was he was not ready to deal with that. It has been a struggle for the last two years to not discuss this with him but I managed to keep my mouth shot. Keeping my mouth shot is not a skill I usually have.

Last week, as my son is moving to Pittsburgh for grad school, he finally verbalized that he is gay. It was great moment that he was able to talk about it frankly and I felt all those months of shutting up paid off. He has told his mother, his brothers and everyone seems to be handling it well.

So, for all the guys in the Pittsburgh area, if you meet a really sweet guy who goes to Carnegie Mellon in electrical and computer engineering, any support you can give him would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like like he has a nice Dad! You handled that well.

Best Wishes to him! And you!

ditto!
It's good for him that he has a supportive Dad...

I have to say, Burtsfield, that I wish you had been my dad. Your son is a lucky man.

Great news Burtsfield. I remember you sharing that w/ us. smile.gif

...& yes, you're a great dad & wisely chose to keep quiet until he was ready to open up & come out.

Wow! What a great post. I wish your son all the best at school! You must be so proud of your son and I hope he is just as proud of you for your support!
