SPCA Exec's Dog Dies After Being Left in Hot Car

Poor thing. I know she is so upset. You would probably have to commit me to the psych ward if I ever did something like that. I don't quite understand these people though who leave their children and dogs in cars. I mean I know when I have a kid or my dog in my car. There is no amount of rushing or distraction that could allow me to forget that I have a kid or my dog in my car, regardless of the weather, but certainly not on a day in which its extremely hot. I don't know. I always looked at those kinds of stories with a WTF kind of reaction. Tragic story nonetheless..

A couple of years ago I was shopping @ Ralphs & some woman had left her dog in the car while she went shopping. This other woman & I happened to notice that the windows were barely cracked & it was pretty hot outside. At any rate, the woman asked me if that was my car & dog. I said "no." & that moment the woman who did own the car approached where we were standing. Needless to say a shouting match ensued between the two women b4 I left. As I drove off I thought, "Who in their right mind leaves their dog in the car when it's 90+ degrees outside w/ the windows barely cracked?" Some people are unbelievable! mad.gif

Talk about coincidence! I had lunch w/ my sis & niece today & as we left the restaurant there was a car parked right in front of it w/ all windows completely shut & there was a dog inside barking. There was nobody near us on the street so we didn't know who the owner was. & to top it off, the last 2 days here have been brutal, upper 90s/low 100s! mad.gif

Is there anything legal one can do in such circumstances? You know like call 911 or something to that effect?
