Having read the first article, which I thought was excellent and commented as such, my thought now is whether skate will go the way of other less popular sports like wrestling, which has a thriving aesthetic competition that is separate from the purely athletic one.

Right now the two are one, as far as the competitors are concerned.

Weir seems to want to be respected as both an athlete and an entertainer. But can both ventures continue to cohabit.
