Man I can't believe we're up to season 15!

Meet the contestants!

And here is a map of the route with pit stops!

I am so ready for TAR 15. And I'm glad that (for once) they aren't stopping in India!!
fenwayguy
Tonight!

Dan = smokin' hot! cool.gif

Nice to see TAR with gay competitors (as a team, not just half a team) again. What makes it more interesting is that they're (Dan and Sam) brothers! Am liking the cast for the most part based on the premier. I'm sure someone will get on my nerves before too long, though.
mdterp01
What a great premiere. That first task absolutely sucked!!! I would've hated to have been picked for the show only to be eliminated in the first 5 minutes. The wasabi challenge was killer. I hate wasabi so I wouldn't have been able to do that. The duck challenge would've absolutely killed me if I had to do it. I would've been smacking the hell out of those things and had PETA on my ass. If I had lost because of that challenge I would've had duck l'orange for months!!! I like the gay brothers so far from what I've seen of them. I also know a couple of brothers who are both gay and their parents only children, and their parents are BEYOND cool with it. Somewhere though I always wondered if the parents ever made a comment like "we couldn't have had at least one turn out straight?". I like the interracial couple Brian and Ericka. Ericka is gorgeous and in reading her bio it does not surprise me that she was Miss America 2004. Good catch Brian. I think they make a very attractive couple. I always love an interracial couple of a white man and a black female because its the least likely interracial couple you'll see. White men and black women are the two least likely groups to date outside of their race, so I always love to see that matchup. I really haven't paid much attention to the other teams. The brothers and Brian and Ericka are the two teams I'm definitely rooting for early on.

I was actually glad to see that yoga couple get eliminated at the start of the Race. I could tell they were gonna annoy he crap out of me, especially the husband. And I'd have been just as fine if the loudmouth lawyer and his wife had been eiminated...he's a douchetool for sure.

I like the father/son from Montana that won the second leg as well as the gay brothers and the guy with Aspergers and his friend. The friend seems really supportive and protective of Zev, but not in a condescending way. I have to think there are times, because of the condition, it's not always easy being friends with him. We'll see how well he can cope on the long, grueling race.

Don't like the Poker Girls, especially the Asian girl.
Munson Man
I watched this for the first time ever last night, but I did miss the first 15 minutes or so. I could have sworn at one point one of the gay "brothers" intimated that they were actually romantic partners posing as brothers. Did I hallucinate that? : )
George Twins fan
I don't thinkt hat's the case...but they aren't telling people they are gay.
mdterp01
Didn't the pair of the poker players question if they were gay when they saw they had matching passport holders or somethin? I was like sheesh...that makes you gay?

The only surer sign would be to see them actually having sex.

Seriously, what two straight men would have matching passport holders?
fenwayguy
Why not? A tells B he's ordering a passport holder. B says Hey, pick me up one too. Or their Mom presents them as a travel gift. Homo or hetero, who cares about their damn passport holders? Talk about forcing a stereotype -- sheesh!

Anyway, Sam and Dan are certainly nice to look at. Their decision to keep their sexuality secret is bound generate some intrigue later in the series.
mdterp01
Thank you fenway. Talk about feeding right into stereotypes. I mean I would've looked at it and figured that both of them were going to be on the Amazing Race and since they are a team, as part of the prep knowing all the countries they would be traveling, they went out and got the same passport holders. I mean how one leaps to gay from that is beyond me. Dan is right though...he's the younger one and looks older than his brother.

I'm loving Season 15 even though I just saw one episode. I just feel like the teams are more distinct this go around instead of last season which seemed to have more of the "working out relationships" couples. This time it seems like a lot more character. AND I"M SO LOVING THE GAY BROTHERS, not just because they're hot but because they have so much energy and enthusiasm, I love it. But I see some tension coming up between the boys because they both seem like alpha dogs.

I also like the friends with the one with the behavioral issues. (Is that the term? Didn't want to call it a disability.) He seems so sweet, and I would be a protective pal of him too. And he seems pretty funny too. I think it'll be fun watching them too.

And what's weird is I kind of like the blond Christian guy with the straight hair. He seems sweet, and one of those Christians who could be open if you met him face to face. Not crazy about his girlfriend though.

I don't like the poker girls and I feel like they may be eliminated in the next two episodes, but they provide the obvious drama for the show. But they just don't seem compatible and they just have this negative aura about them.

I was disappointed to see the couple eliminated at the end of the episode. The boyfriend was definite eye candy. smile.gif

Puh - leeze!

Passport Holder = Gay

Matching Passport Holders = Big Ol' Nancy Girls
mdterp01
Matching Louis Vuitton passport holders and I'd be like oh yeah....for sure familia. But just passport holders? Traveling now requires you to show your ID at at least a couple different spots. When you are traveling internationally you have to show both passport and passport ID. I have a nice passport holder that goes around my neck and has three pouches (one for my boarding pass, one for my license, and one for my passport) I don't think thats gay at all. I think thats "I'm tired of having to keep pullin this motherfuc*kin license, passport, and boarding pass out". That way from start to finish its just right there for you and you don't have to worry about losing it and fumbling around to pull it out. I always take a carry on and my laptop bag with me when flying so I don't have enough hands to hold it in my hand the whole time.
swiminbuff
I dont think a passport holder is gay at all. Last year my travel agent was giving them out to all their regular customers so the odds are quite a few of us could show up at the airport with matching passport holders.
Munson Man
I travel internationally 3 to 5 times per year. I take only carry-on luggage, and my laptop case. I carry my passport and my boarding pass in my pocket, and put them in my laptop case/briefcase when I'm done. Occasionally I see an old lady with a passport holder, or some really affected, effeminate old queen. I think if i ever saw a man my age with a passport holder I'd probably point at him, make fun of him, laugh hysterically and suggest he schedule surgery to have a Y chromosome implanted. tongue.gif

Oh my God...that was just the saddest, most depressing ending to an episode of The Amazing Race ever....
mdterp01
Mmmm Hmmm....see...should've had matching passport holders like Sam and Dan. Was sad but people are always losin shit on this show. Get it together people. How did he only lose one?

It's really nice that the last of the really big douchebags is out of the race. I still don't care for the Poker Player girls but that kickboxing lawyer was a total asshat. The otehr teams all seem like really nice people. I just wish that Zev and Justin were still around.

I didn't mind himn, but she was INSUFFERABLE. I would've just abandoned her in the dessert.

OK, if I lost out on a chance to win $1M because my partner was afraid to go down a water slide it would be one chilly flight home.
mdterp01
Oh she wouldn't have made it back to the plane. I would've sold that heifa into United Arab Emirates sex slavery.

Why would someone who is terrifed of heights AND water go on the Amazing Race in the first place? She froze when they took an elevator to the top of the tallest building earlier in the race when they all assumed they'd be doing a bungee jump. Every race, heights and water are parts of challenges in some way. Poor Canaan is a cutie though!

Yes, but every season there seems to be at least one couple where one is afraid of water or heights.
And what is with not knowing how to row? Is this a lost skill? Its not the most difficult athletic skill out there? And then not knowing how to do math? Gee you have to buy $500,000 at the gold store. Gold sells for 490 an ounce, how many ounces do you buy? Need a calculator, sure? But still, not knowing how to divide? Come on people, thats elementary school stuff. Dont they teach this stuff any more?

EXACTLY! She must have known they would do something like bungee jumping or waterslide. Canaan was a bit aggressive at times, but I feel his frustration. He's too forgiving. I would walk away from such a high maintenance girlfriend. Canaan, call me. I'll show you some fun. ;-)

I thought it was so sweet when one of the gay brothers got all emotional at the elimination mat because he realized he was such a jerk to the other brother, which he was. That haystack challenge is all about pure luck.
fenwayguy
I had missed last Sunday's episode, just watched it online... The hay-bale hunt still looks like pure torture. I was hoping the contestants were staying hydrated, then noticed Meghan carrying a bottle of water, so that's a good thing. At least this time the longest it took anyone was less than three hours.

The five teams remaining just seem like the nicest people, encouraging and supporting one another rather than going all negative -- which Dan(?) FINALLY got. I like the brothers. They're all likeable.
swiminbuff
My but there are some fine looking boys in Estonia. Mud volleyball looks fun, but why of why did the network feel the need to blur the brothers crotches while they were playing vball?
fenwayguy
I know, that was weird. What springs to mind first is a commercial conflict, like the brand was obvious or there was a logo the network didn't want displayed. Hope we'll hear an official explanation at some point. It was only one of the brothers' short, wasn't it?

Dan (the taller, younger one) attends William Jewell College in their hometown of Liberty, MO, a Kansas City suburb. The college was kicked out of the Missouri Baptist Convention for being open-minded "on issues of family, on the issues of morality, on the issues of homosexuality" and on the evolution-vs-creationism "controversy".

The brothers inspired a nice conversation between a mom and her young son. They were interviewed on AfterElton.
batboy
Tonight's episode was so "interesting" with the mud volleyball. I thought it was so funny how CBS decided to "fog" out the gay brothers when they were playing in their underwear. It's not like they were "popping out." I think it was because there was a VPL. And in one brief shot, it looked like Dan (the brother in black underwear) is pretty hung because there was a lot bouncing during that game. smile.gif

And on another note, I don't know what the Globetrotter's problem was racing to the end. I don't think the brothers elbowed them, because one of them fell too. I bet the Globetrotter tried to grab him or pass him and just fell. They're just painting the gay brothers as the bad guys when I don't think they're necessarily doing anything wrong.
mdterp01
They also blurred out one of the globetrotters butt area at the end of their mud volleyball challenge. I think it had something to do with the crotches because for both brothers the crotch was blocked out. If it was a logo issue, thats found on the spandex part of underwear. So perhaps there was too much wood for CBS' liking.

As for the ending with the brothers and the Globetrotters falling...it looked like the one was trying to get past one of the brothers and they both fell. Sam and Dan have been bitching about them for awhile so the two teams really don't seem to like each other. Sam and Dan also seem to be up to tricks next week against Brian and Ericka. At the end of the day, its a game. There's a lot at stake. There's a lot of money on the line. I think its testosterone and at the end there's usually nothin but love between them all. But Sam and Dan do a bit of bitching thats getting old.
Munson Man
I thought the blurring was absurd, too. They were both wearing boxer briefs, so there wasn't much you could see. On the other hand, the Estonian men were all wearing bikini-type underwear, which are instantly much more revealing, and that was not blurred at all. What gives, CBS?
batboy
Mehghan on tonight's episode was so irritating. Did she forget the name of the show she's on, "The Amazing RACE"? Why would you need to work with the Globetrotters to get to the next stop? What was the advantage in doing that? She just seemed to be insecure and needed someone to be with her and not her boyfriend, and then she calls Cheynne rude for leaving the Globetrotters to catch a cab instead. When you're racing, who cares if you're rude or not when $1 million is at stake? I would hate to have her on my team, what a drag on poor Cheynne.
Munson Man
It's hard to say who is the more annoying female partner - Meaghan or Erikka. They are both pretty whiny/bossy!

The brothers are also on my last nerve, with neither of them being able to control their constant bickering. While I thought the "tripping" episode last week was silly, I thought their taking Brian and Erikka's taxi was somewhat out of bounds, and the fact that neither of them was man enough to look Brian in the eye afterwards said a lot about their character, or lack thereof.

thanks...i already cheated and saw the Globetrotters were eliminated and I'm shocked haha...but glad team yellow is still around...the interracial team. i love them!
mdterp01
Congratulations to Meghan and Cheyne. They dominated the season and tied for the most legs won by a team so fitting that they win the million dollar prize. ANYONE but the brothers Sam and Dan as far as I'm concerned. They were so shady and I would've been pissed had they won. I was rooting for Brian and Ericka but they screwed up with the bungee jump and the casino chips. There is always a great equalizer...they went from first to last. Ericka got so annoying with her hissy fits but I am so competitive and can understand it. Still love she and Brian as a couple and Brian is a cutie pie. He seems really sweet too. Great season!!
swiminbuff
I wouldnt have been upset at any of the teams winning. Thought it was odd that the teams had difficulty with the Monte Carlo clue though. That one threatened to sink the ultimate winners.
