This show ROCKS! I am soooo hooked already. I won't spoil it for anyone outside the eastern time zone, but this is the best new show since "Lost". (And I love the Oceanic Airways hat tip!) Can't wait until next week's episode!
BoSoxRudy
The show started out a little too weird and too slow for me, and frankly, I stuck with it only because Joseph Fiennes is so utterly delicious. But WOW, the episode quickly came together and got me totally hooked. I just hope ABC sticks with the show.

I watched, thinking (hoping, actually) that I would not enjoy it enough to want to see week 2. Yeah, so guess who will be watching week 2?

I really liked the way it played out. Hopefully they can keep up the mystery and suspense for the duration of the season. Just what I need - another hour a week claimed by the tv... rolleyes.gif

Quite heavy, honestly, but a great show!

Dammit this was a good show and in addition to Modern Family and CougarTown my Tivo is going to explode. This was a really good show though. The whole thing about people's images when they blacked out and how they are similar. Whats the deal with April 29th? The one guy who didn't see anything in 6 months? Will he be dead? And then the ending...who was the guy who didn't blackout? Thats some real Damien 666 stuff. But yes...intrigued to see where this is going to go and how they can keep the mystery up
WoodysMarlins
Yah...It was a great show, so far. Now, they just have to keep it up. I thought the beginning of it was REALLY intense. I don't think I breathed until the first commercial break.
The last poster wanted to know about the guy that didn't pass out and the date. What about that kangaroo in the middle of the street?
Also, Modern Family and Cougar Town were surprisngly very funny. Courtney Cox wasn't this funny in Friends.

...What about that kangaroo in the middle of the street?...

I thought the same thing. But then I thought, "Maybe animals escaping from a zoo or some conservation sanctuary?" That was the only logical explanation. The other thought I had was that perhaps someone owned an "exotic" animal & it escaped. blink.gif

Not to make another "Lost" reference, but as soon as I saw the kangaroo I thought, "what, the polar bear was busy?" LOL. It was a great touch. Like "Lost", I'm sure eveything in this show will have a second point of reference or some deeper meaning (blue hand, Baltimore, Red Panda). I'm sure that Dark UFO (or whatever) site that does screen grabs of Lost is having a field day with this one.
SCTrojan
Ahhhh! So the kangaroo perhaps is a metaphor. Quite interesting!...

So based on mdterp's post & yours maybe the man that didn't pass out (in the video at the end) is a demon boy [man] from Australia. tongue.gif

When the FBI guy said he just blacked out and didn't have any visions I was thinking, "ooh, he's so dead." But then when he said 'OMG! I'm so dead!' I figured he's so NOT dead.
BoSoxRudy
definitely no let-down in the second episode, the show has me hooked even more. I felt so bad for Demetri when the police officer who had no flash-forward vision ended up dying. Yikes, not the sunniest of futures. And when Mark's daughter says that D. Gibbons is a very bad man, my eyes about popped out of my head.

The ratings from last week's premiere were pretty good. Hopefully the ratings hold up and ABC sticks with the show. A couple of seasons ago, I got totally hooked on another ABC show "Traveler," only to have it cruelly cancelled after the initial batch of episodes. Like "FlashForward," "Traveler" set up a wild mystery with all sorts of intriguing questions. Man oh man, was I bummed when it got canceled, with all its unknown possibilities and unanswered questions. If "FlashForward" gets yanked prematurely, I'll blow a gasket.

Like others here, as much as I'm enjoying the show, the last thing I need is another hour of must-see TV per week and another batch of recordings clogging up the DVR. So believe me, I wouldn't recommend a show unless it was really worth watching. "the forgotten" (also on ABC, Tuesdays @ 10 pm) is about a volunteer network that works to solve the mystery of unidentified murder victims. In the US the remains of 40,000 people have not been identified. To think, every single one of those dead bodies used to be someone's spouse, sibling, parent, or child. There are a lot of powerful stories there, and the two episodes so far have been terrific.

And honest to God, I don't work for ABC!

Wow! Ok I was telling my bf that there are several possible plots:

1. There WAS a terrorists attack & that the aftereffects involve the "bad" or "loser" characters becoming part of the new evil world order.

2. There WAS a terrorists attack & that the backlash involves the "bad" or "loser" characters becoming part of the new redeemed & good new world order.

3. Now w/ both possibilities above, where would that leave the "good" people? Either to become more evil & join the terrorists or become even better "prophets".

But then the end w/ the crows & the Somali scene threw a wrench into the above possibilities....

Now it seems that aliens are involved. huh.gif

I'm on board with the opinions here, definitely one of the best shows on TV right now. Totally digging Modern Family as well. The scenes last week at the baby/parent day care center were hysterical.

Ok so what does the following mean?"

1. 2 min & 17 sec

2. 137 sec

3. the date 42910, 042910, or 04292010

Hmmm?

Physicists please give thy input!

I have been trying to figure that out too and can't come up with a thing.
And, it's probably something either so damn obvious or something so way out there.
This is why I hate shows with clues!!!!!....smile.gif

WM I just found this. So there IS a significance to those numbers. It's interesting that they talk about Sekunden, the word seconds in German. So I'm guessing that there must be some mathematical &/or historical significance that perhaps a German philosopher, scientist, religious scholar, or physicist has discovered or theorized. Even more interesting! Can't wait.

Edit:

Ok. So I did a google search using "137 seconds," "german," "importance of," etc. (using different combos). What was interesting is that this came up all of the time. Whether it has any significance I don't know. But it certainly is something "way out there" as you put if it does have any significance to the show. blink.gif Yet, it could simply be coincidental..

What was also interesting is that many of my searches often came up w/ The Worship of Priapus translated in German. It appears that many German philosophers have had a great interest in this work.

The bf & I finally saw this week's episode. Interesting how it's developing. I love how certain characters are beginning to believe that perhaps they can change the future becuz the details of their flashforward experience may simply be "clues." Also, the one story of the young man white man "becoming black" was fascinating.

The other angle I find interesting, altho it would be expected if something like that were to pass, is how some of the characters have deep-seated unease, fear, uncertainty, & in some cases even doubt after their experiemce. & on the opposite spectrum you have those who feel "changed" or "liberated" from their flashforward experience. Quite interesting!

Then of course there's the "who & why did this happen?" element. & finally, of course, the whole mystery & significance of what 137 sekunden (or 2'17'') means.

...There are so many layers of "heady" stuff on the show: E.g., what is life, death, sexuality, spirituality, God, scientific logic, law & order, fidelity, terrorism, etc.? I mean the list can go on & on.
SCTrojan
Wow! The theories abound! smile.gif

My 1st gut instinct was right. So what the hell did they do?
mdterp01
Not as excited about this show the way I was the first couple episodes. Am still gonna watch but its gotta do something for me quick to make me keep following it. Its still interesting but I find myself zoning out.
SCTrojan
I think you're right mdterp. Something much more interesting is gonna have to happen to cont to have public interest. At this pt, ok, so we know that it was "man-caused". So what the hell is it?...

But it could be that they think they caused something to happen but maybe they weren't the cause of it. Hmmm! That would be an interesting twist, that's 4 sure.
CHIathlete
Well I'm highly disappointed that they killed off the hottest guy on the show. :-(

I was really excited about the premise of this show but after a couple of weeks I dropped it. And now so has ABC...Flashforward won't be back next season.

We stuck with it and it had it's moments since it's been back this spring. But overall, the storytelling hasn't gotten much better and the pacing is still maddeningly inconsistent (last night's wasn't all that great). Sorry to see it go as the show had much promise (and Joseph Fiennes).

At least ABC renewed 'V' for next year. That show has improved dramatically over the last month. Why couldn't they have revved up the story early on instead of waiting 12 hours into the season? At least it's coming back, unlike the first time 'V' was a weekly series in 1985!
