I'm headed to Rio next week and was wondering if anyone had suggestions on what to do while there? (besides using the box of condoms that I packed)

Be very careful. Do not make heavy eye contact with Brazilians. They are both highly unfaithful to each other and highly jealous of each other. The end result is that if one thinks you are coming on to their significant other a fight will break out. Also do not wear any jewellery when out and about as crime is an issue. Dont wander around at night by yourself. Our Concierge gave us these warnings last year when we were there.
Do visit Jesus of the Andes, Sugarloaf, Impanema etc and if you have time to go outside the city visit Petropolis (the old Imperial Family escape from Rio) or Paraquea (sic) a small almost entirely gay village.
Most of all enjoy yourself, the city and its people are fantastic.
