I disowned & have hated the Lambs WAY b4 they left La La Land but if this comes to pass they will be #1 on my most hated teams list! dry.gif

Some responses to his interest. Love some of the anti-Rush comments. laugh.gif

My worst nightmare: Fatty becomes [part] owner of the Lambs & they are moved to LA if they end up w/ a NFL team. Ugh! dry.gif mad.gif ...Fingers crossed, fingers crossed!

While the vast majority of current NFL owners are conservatives and support Republican candidates, they really hate controversy. I don't see them allowing Rush to be an NFL owner, whether in a majority or minority capacity.

Oddly enough only two teams in the league donated more money to Democratic candidates than they did Republicans...the Steelers and the Rams.

Oh and the whining from FOX News if Rush loses out will be so amazingly entertaining!
SCTrojan
Good pts guys!
mdterp01
Oh hell no. 9 NFL owners need to say no and Rush won't be able to buy the team. I can't imagine any black player playing for a team that he owns. I could just see him behind closed doors now making plantation jokes about all his "coloreds" Unghhh Unghhh. No. More players needs to speak out about this and squash it right now.

The heat is on:

One.

Two.

Three.

Whitlock's take is quite interesting. I also read another article that said the same thing:

QUOTE
This is a brilliant publicity stunt. After taking down challenger Sean Hannity during the election season, Limbaugh is now in an ultimate fight with Glenn Beck for the prestigious and lucrative crown of right-wing racial divider.

Edt:

& now this damning article.

QUOTE
Apparently, the deal is all but done. Enough owners have privately told Yahoo! Sports’ Jason Cole that they will not support Limbaugh’s ownership bid. At least one, Indianapolis Colts’ owner Jim Irsay, has publicly expressed his opposition..

“We’re all held to a high standard here and divisive comments are not what the NFL’s all about,” said league commissioner Roger Goodell. “I would not want to see those kind of comments from people who are in a responsible position in the NFL, no. Absolutely not.”

That the commissioner said anything on this issue is telling.
blueraider
If the man has the money and his group's bid is sound, so what?

This is a league that has no problem bringing back dog killers like Vick and keeping whole host of others in the league that have skeletons in their closet, so to speak.

And now some are speaking out concerned about the league's image with a guy like this on board. Seriously??

Besides, most of these owners are politically aligned with a guy like Rush, I wonder how many of them are "dittoheads" as well?

If the money is there, big deal. It's Dave Checkett's bid by and large anyhow.

(And if Rush came to Buffalo and stated that he'd buy the team and keep it there I'd be singin' hallelujah from the rooftops....)
mdterp01
Sorry but there's a big difference between Michael Vick's situation and someone like Rush Limbaugh owning the entire team. Its a power differential and I really shouldn't have to be explaining this.

Well here we go....Rush has been dropped from the group:

QUOTE
"This is not about the NFL, it's not about the St. Louis Rams, it's not about me," Limbaugh said. "This is about the ongoing effort by the left in this country, wherever you find them, in the media, the Democrat Party, or wherever, to destroy conservatism, to prevent the mainstreaming of anyone who is prominent as a conservative.

"Therefore, this is about the future of the United States of America and what kind of country we're going to have."

Hey Rush...blow it out your fat, drug-addled ass.

Exactly! One guy's a disgusting, sicko, mentally twisted convicted criminal, the other guy's someone whose words get conveniently and falsely distorted to justify denying him a legitimate business opportunity with a bunch of sanctimonious hypocrites. There's no place in the NFL for the latter!

Thank God we have racist, lying, two-faced asses like Jesse "Barack is telling niggers how to behave" Jackson and Al "Tawana Brawley" Sharpton to keep things on the up and up in this country.
SCTrojan
Gosh that sudden gust of hot air has really dried out my skin. laugh.gif

It's not quite as hot as the air exhaled by Rush or his hypocritical detractors on the Left.

The maturity level of those on the Left never ceases to amaze me.

Rush should be able to say whatever he wants to, but shouldn't be surprised when there's fallout from it.

Vick paid his debt, went to prison, etc.... comparing his situation to Rush's is wrong on so many levels.

When people on the right start understanding power dynamics and privilege maybe the country can progress. But as long as they keep whining about what victims they are (when in fact most of them are part and parcel of the power structure that sets the rules) it's always going to be an us vs. them mentality.

Exactly. Vick's situation was far more abhorrent

Tell it!!! Its the truth and they do understand it and do everything they can to keep the current power structure in place. Don't make me give a lecture up in here.

Really? You're comparing abhorrent behaviors? There's a good argument that what Rush does, lies, supports preposterous things like the wacko birthers, and says one thing one day and another the next w/ no consequence, is really worse than what Vick did. Did I mention lies? Worst of all is there's a part of me that thinks that even he doesn't believe the BS he spews....which makes it even worse. That and the fact that he re-offends day after day.

I was in favor of a harsher punishment for Vick, but they haven't made me the judge yet biggrin.gif No matter, he did what was handed down as his punishment. He even says he's changed....don't the wacko Christian rightwingers believe in Biblical principals? Forgiveness, redemption, those w/out sin casting the first stones, judgment being the sole job of "God"? Hmmmmm.
Joe in Philly
Sorry, but if you want to pit Vick against Lie-baugh, as much as I don't like his presence on the Eagles my support will go to Vick every time.
Crew Chief
That doesn't surprise me. He could be an axe murderer and the partisans would still side with him.

Tony Dungy said it best when he criticized the public criticism Rush has undergone, explaining that the only ones who should have had a say in this were the NFL's owners.

Interesting that you label Rush a liar (yet no one has proved he is) but are silent on those two liars-in-chief Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton, who also happen to be the biggest hypocritical racists around.

FWIW, there's no way I can listen to Rush if I wanted to. My teaching duties preclude that. I'm more of a First Amendment absolutist and would defend him as easily as I'd defend Alan Combs, former radio dude Al Franken, and others.
mdterp01
I knew not to read any further when I read "Tony Dungy said it best..." rolleyes.gif
Crew Chief
Why, because he's not a left-wing black person? He's certainly not conservative. He's a level-headed guy who happens to be one of the most honest persons in this debate.

I should mention that what disgusts me even more than those two racists, Jackson and Sharpton, is the absolute silence over someone who's an even bigger piece of human garbage: Keith Olbermann. This vile, disgusting piece of shit constantly launches personal and reprehensible attacks against people and just happens to be the voice of the NFL on its biggest broadcast, Sunday Night Football; yet, there's nary a word about his extreme fllth emanating from that sewer known as his mouth. I'm sure we all know why--because he spews his vile lies against conservatives.
mdterp01
And why did you pick Tony Dungy to support your passionate defense of Rush? Because he's the one black guy you could find to do it?

Crew Chief
There are more. I picked him because I heard his comments on the radio on the way home from school. It was played on the Score today.

SeaCraig
Tony Dungy is someone who's had great success coaching, but is a radical religious anti-gay conservative, and hardly mainstream.

Everyone has good/bad points. Rush, Al, .... all I know about them is from what is published and what they have said. I don't agree w/ everything anyone says. I like Al Sharpton more and more as he's evolved. I've known Jesse Jackson for 15 years (not buds, but he was a big supporter of my law school) and that man, with all his failings, is one awesome guy. He thinks of what he can do to help the average person and he's devoted his life's work to it.

Of course, the privileged class always want to say how oppressed people should act. It's part and parcel of privilege....setting the rules.

Rush Limbaugh has railed for some time on the birth certificate issue....he's crafty that guy...he doesn't really take the position but talks around it as if he were taking the position..giving himself careful cover later to say "I never really said that....." The President not being born in Hawaii is a lie. Rush perpetuates that. Let's see...he lied about his drug abuse when he was caught. Oh right, he's a felon. On and on. Pretty much his lips moves and he lies.

Btw...the First Amendment doesn't protect Rush from being censored by citizens...just the government.

Come on Crew Chief, don't drink the conservative kool aid.

So you are admitting that one of the reasons you did pick him was because he was the only black guy you could find? Good grief. Oh Tony...always that one black dipshit out there who some people want to put up so as to say "well he's black and he thinks its ok...so how bad can Rush be?"
