Who are the best looking world leaders? Well here's a list, at least according to these people. Obama came in 15th. If nothing else it proves that you don't need to be very attractive to obtain power!

Or another way of looking @ it is that an important criteria to have in order to obtain power is to be fugly.

I'm usually pretty good w/ geography but I didn't know that Eritrea existed.

I know alot of people find Obama attractive but I don't really see...that said, how did he only finish 15th on this list?

I only heard of Eritrea because Robin Quivers talks about it on Howard Stern...she's apparently raised a good deal of money to help them. LOL! I guess they don't have a contestant in the Miss Universe pageant then maybe I might have heard of it before!

Honestly, there were a [small] handfull of decent looking leaders. But the rest.

I don't find any of the Eritrean ethnic groups to be generally very attractive but their culture and history are fascinating.

It is very much a blend of Arab/sub-Saharan African and may be the origin of both of the younger cultures and descendant "races", according to some modern genetic theories.

I take all such long-term extrapolations with a grain of salt though.

They could easily be a mixture of groups that immigrated during the regions ancient history as an important shipping port.

Meaning their racial disparity more likely resulted from more recent migration "into Africa", or at least into that economically important horn of Africa. As for attractive world leaders: Mandela in old age looked a bit like Barack Obama does now. I don't know what that says about how Obama will age, if anything.

At the risk of being called a Protocol Nazi, many of those listed are not heads of state, but heads of government. For example, the list includes the prime ministers of Norway and the UK, but the heads of state of those countries are King Harald V and Queen Elizabeth II, respectively.

Interesting comment about Eritrea. It was in a LONG and brutal war of liberation from Ethiopia, and they still are at odds from time to time. Both were part of Italy's scarce overseas colonies. I find a lot of Ethiopean and Eritrean men very attractive, especially the ones who're here in the US.

I'm surprised also Obama is as low as 15. I think he's very attractive. On this list, the best looking leaders appear to be the European women and the African men, in aggregate.

Why is King Abdullah of Jordan so low? He's pretty hot, and his wife, Queen Rania, is really beautiful.



Why is King of Morocco, Mohamed, who is one of the more liberal leaders in the Arab and Muslim worlds, so far down? (His record is mixed, but compared to many other neighboring countries...) He's kind of hot, in a bear-ish way.



Among leaders-to-come, Prince Felipe of Spain is quite good looking, and his wife, Princess Letizia, is stunning.



There's Crown Prince Naruhito, and his tragic, unhappy wife, Princess Masako. He and his brother, who has a mustache, are both kind of cute.



Sort of severe, but the Grand Duke of Luxembourg, Henri, is easy on the eyes too.



I also think the Crown Prince of the Netherlands has an attractive, fashion-plate wife. I always associate Holland with Queen Beatrix and that impenetrable hairdo, though.



Not that I'm for royalty, mind you. These folks are among the more attractive ones.

It's really hard to judge by one pic...the photos of the Kings of Jordan and Morocco in the article are very unflattering. I don't really find Mohammed VI attractive anyway, but Abdullah II is another story.

I don't think they like facial hair much--none of the top 10 have any and the highest ranking beard is the smokin' Xanana Gusmao of East Timor.

I think Tigram Sargsian of Armenia should be higher than #88. I found an interesting article about him in a blog on gay Armenia--apparently he's been the subject of some speculation about his sexuality.

Also, I can't imagine why Iceland's Johanna Sigoardottir is so low--maybe because she's a lesbian?

And I must say that while I often find Arab men attractive, it seems that a number of the royal families in the Persian Gulf area have been hit very hard with the ugly stick. Maybe they're breeding selectively to scare their populace into submission.
