.....because they are interracial. blink.gif

A sad reminder of just how far WE have to go in places like Louisiana. Other than that, I'm just speechless. unsure.gif

“I’m not a racist. I just don’t believe in mixing the races that way,” Bardwell told the Associated Press on Thursday. “I have piles and piles of black friends. They come to my home, I marry them, they use my bathroom. I treat them just like everyone else.”
OH.MY.GOD. He did NOT say that?

Monty Python could not have said it better.

Does he realize that "everyone else" can marry whomever they wish?

Oh! I didn't realize he was doing it for the sake of the children. That's what every slavedriver says as he packs them away for shipping: "Let no child be left behind."

No wonder Obama couldn't get out that state fast enough.

I love how everyone who makes racist comments nowadays precedes them by saying, "I'm not racist, but..." A sign of progress?

Hello.....Loving v. Virginia!!!!! Didn't we resolve THIS issue years ago??!!! He is supposed to follow the LAW, not give an opinion that in his experience interracial marriages don't last. This is absurd! He needs to go into the "People Who Should Be Shot" thread!

Yep! & if I were a lawyer in his courtroom I would have certainly asked, "What study are you referring to that has w/out a doubt concluded that interracial marriages don't last?"

Puuhlleeze! This man is a f**king bigot & a piece of shyte! This qutoe tells it all:

They use his bathroom? blink.gif Now you know that there are tons of racist innuendos in that comment alone!

I hope he's removed from the bench & soon! mad.gif

A classic example of condescension blended with paternalism.

You have to study USA history of African American and Anglo American relations to really appreciate how sad that is.

It is at once a unique and universal human tragedy of psychology.

CNN: Newlywed won't tolerate 'overt racism' by Louisiana official

==========

Slightly off topic: last night I went to see Chris Rock's Good Hair (which I had seen before, and which is a hoot), and before the film they showed the trailer for the documentary Prom Night in Mississippi (which I've also seen). That film is about a small town in Mississippi where the high school has two proms: one for the white kids and one for the black kids. Morgan Freeman, who had grown up in that town, came to the school and offered to pay for the prom if the kids organized an integrated prom. The mixed prom went off without a hitch, with black and white students attending and having a great time. However, some of the white parents still went and organized a separate white prom. Which shows you: old prejudices die hard. I totally recommend this film. Great for all ages, although is particularly important for young people.

My favorite part of the article:

Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal is calling to have Bardwell's license revoked, and Louisiana Sen. Mary Landrieu is calling for his dismissal -- a notion shared by McKay.

Good!

Judge resigns as of today.

Good. Now let's hope that racist shitbag never gets a job again.
