On Saturday, some punk from Florida intentionally reached inside a Georgia RB's facemask and tried to gouge the guy's eyes out. When I saw this on ESPN this morning I thought for sure he'd get a hefty suspension. Well Urban Meyer really laid down the law, suspending this ass**** for THE FRIST HALF OF NEXT WEEK'S GAME AGAINST VANDERBILT!!!!! So now I figure the SEC or the NCAA will step in and say "No Urban Meyer, this kid is done for the year" but nope, they've signed off on this. This is beyond ridiculous.
The Oregon RB (I think his name is Blunt?) was suspended for most of the season for the postgame punch against Boise State. I'm not condoning what he did, but he could at least claim he was somewhat provoked. The incident in the Florida-Georgia game was not provoked in any way, shape or form. The NCAA also suspended Oklahoma State's star WR Dez Bryant for lying about a dinner he had with Deion Sanders! Yeah, yeah, lying is bad, but isn't eye gouging worse?
With all the allegations about Florida and Alabama getting the benefit of some very dubious calls, this only plays into the conspiracy theories.
