NY Times: Lou Dobbs to Quit CNN
aquaman
Lou Dobbs is one of the smartest guys I've ever met, but I've grown to dislike his public persona over the past few years. I met him when he hosted an event my company sponsored and I was the lawyer on-hand to make sure he didn't go rogue. LOL He didn't, he was excellent and engaging and the epitome of professionalism. I grew disappointed with him as his career evolved and he became this foaming-at-the-mouth anti-immigrant birther (just asking the questions, folks!) and a shill for dumb ideas and ignorance.

Thank God that xenophobe is gone!

Um hmmm! I wonder what he's gonna do next: rolleyes.gif

QUOTE
Sitting before an image of an American flag on his television set, he said “some leaders in media, politics and business have been urging me to go beyond the role here at CNN and to engage in constructive problem solving as well as to contribute positively to the great understanding of the issues of our day.”

Great, just what we need. Another rogue right winger a la Beck, O'reilly, Palin.

He must have gotten tired from being lampooned almost nightly by Keith Olberman, otherwise, I couldn't give a rats behind. Maybe, just maybe though, Dobbs-Palin 2012?????? blink.gif Nah! rolleyes.gif

Bastard! His rantings about illegal immigration and adding fuel to the fire that Obama really isn't a citizen were getting on my nerves. Don't let the door hit you in your arse on the way out. I'm sure Faux News will welcome you gladly.

In some interview, probably to Faux News Dobbs says he is " in talks about running for Pres. in 2010". Maybe there is something to be said for Dobbs/Palin 2012. Scary!!! ohmy.gif ohmy.gif

Again do not underestimate the ability of demagogues to win a USA presidential election by blaming our problems on someone else. Ronald Reagan made excellent use of the US Iranian embassy takeover to defeat Carter. Draft-dodger George Bush bashed war veteran Kerry by being hawkish on Iraq and misrepresenting Kerry's war record - in effect blaming liberals for the loss of Vietnam while starting his own immoral war against a regime that was no serious threat to his father much less to our nation.

Sarah Palin has wrapped herself not only in the flag but one that is used as swaddling clothing for her child with Down's Syndrome, which she bravely chose to have rather than abort, and now uses as an effective campaign prop.

Lou Dobb's has taken a legitimate issue of illegal immigration and made it an excuse to ignore the legal immigrants who are CEOs of international companies finding tax havens in our own states and gambling casinos in our financial markets to power their empires. Dobbs is effectively their willing priest.

It was interesting to watch the movie "There Will Be Blood", loosely based on the novel Oil! by Upton Sinclair, which posits an oil baron who uses a religious figure for his own profit, feigns dedication to that "prophet's" faith, then robs and murders the prophet in the end.

It makes me think of Goldman Chief Executive Lloyd Blankfein saying outright he is "doing God's work". dry.gif

Its beginning to sound like Lou may be planning on some Senate race run in the state of New Jersey where he lives. Calls to him have not been returned so far. Read an article about this in my morning newspaper. I understand he is highly critical of the new Republican Governor of New Jersey, Christie as well. Dobbs may be an Independent. We shall see.....
