Full Version: Gays At Games

I sometimes wonder when I am at hockey and football games if I am the only gay person there.

I can't seem to tell. I sometimes would like to go to a game with another gay guy but how do you find them?

It is hard. Or if I have an extra ticket it is hard to find a gay guy to give it to so he can come with me. I am a hockey fan and the Vancouver Canucks are my home team, and even though they are up and down like a yoyo it would be nice to know other gays that like to watch them. I wonder why we do not have a local group of gay men watching hockey. Maybe there is and I do not know about it.

No, there are surely other gay people there. Just because they're not wearing "I'M GAY!" t-shirts doesn't mean they aren't there. wink.gif

How do you find a gay guy for other events? Whatever you do, follow the same technique.

Hey Glenn -
Follow Big Blue Cowboys advice. Or even check out some of the other gay sports leagues in Vancouver like softball and volleyball. I've played in gay softball and volleyball tournaments in Vancouver and had a number of great discussions about the Mariners, Jays, Leafs Lions, Canucks, Whitecaps and other pro sports with a lot of guys I'd meet on the Vancouver teams - so they are there.

I have a good number of gay friends who I go to Jays, Leaf, Bills, Jays, Raptors, TFC, Argos or TiCats games with. Most I met through my participation in gay volleyball and softball here in Toronto.

In fact three of us were just down in Hamilton (where I'm originally from) last Sunday for the CFL play-off game against your BC Lions. WILD atmosphere to be in and I really was wondering if old Ivor Wynne Stadium would remain standing when we went bonkers with the Cats scoring a field goal with 2 minutes left then a touch down with successful two point convert to tie in the dying seconds of regulation. Great fun being their with some of my best gay (Argos fans) friends - one of whom had never been to a game at Ivor Wynne before. They were blown away by the crowd.

So check out local gay sport leagues or go to one of the league fundraisers that they hold in bars - and you'll find gay sports fans.

Good luck - and good luck to your Lions - who won in overtime - in Montreal this weekend.

We actually had a young gay couple sitting next to us at the Panthers-Penguins game last night! tongue.gif
Hockey is the only sport I can get my partner to go to, so we both thought that was kind of funny....

For some reason I just always assume that if I am at a large event there are always other gay people there. I never assume that I'm the only one. We're everywhere baby!!!

I'm pretty sure that I am the gayest Canucks fan in Vancouver. I'm actually paying to be on the wait list for season tickets (4 years and counting). I managed to get tickets for tonight's game. I didn't make out with the guy I went with, so you might not have seen me. You may have heard me when Tanner Glass scored, though. I'm a sucker for prairie boys and their mullets.

There are gay people at the Canucks games, and I'm always up for it.

There you go, Glenn! You've got someone to go to games with.
