Side note: couldn't help but notice the banner ad for a Las Vegas golf course/resort that was on the top page of this thread (about golf--makes sense). I clicked on it and noticed that this golf course offers... "Par Mates... extremely attractive and outgoing young ladies / girl caddies that will keep the golfers company during their round... cost $225 per caddy." Are these golf 'hos* or what? (*is that how you spell the plural of 'ho?)

Several questions come to mind.

Did the wife just happen to have a golf club in her hand at 2:30 in the morning? (Sounds like a somestic issue) Excuse my conjecture.

Tiger has been known to have a temper lately. I wonder if he was driving while angry. Surely he has driven out of his driveway many times. (Too many references to driving to make a joke out of that....)

TMZ is reporting that Tiger's injuries were inflicted by his wife after she confronted him about cheating on her with another woman. TMZ is low class "journalism" but they usually end up with the right story. Guess we'll have to see. But if true, his image will take a pretty big hit. I think some people have been looking for a chance to take him down a peg or two and this may be their opportunity.

The story makes a lot more sense than --he decided to go for a drive at 2:30 in the morning, crashed going out of his own driveway, the wife busted the back window (to pull him out? No...) with a handy golf club, and his injuries were not related to the car being crashed. I think the poor guy gave into some honey and the wife was understandably pissed and took a whack at him.

I was at dinner with my boyfriend when I saw this story on the crawler. We're in LA and with the time difference and being out all day shopping I hadn't looked on my phone for the news or had enough time to stop and look at anything. I read a report on Mediatakeout.com earlier this past week talking about rumors of an affair with some "Becky" and immediately I was skeptical. Then, when I heard about this incident I immediately thought the story sounded a bit shaky. When I heard it was a single car that hit a hydrant and then tree outside of his own home I knew that something had to be up. The fact that he has delayed the meeting with the police only stirs the pot. The story about Elin goin ghetto with his ass regarding the affair, chasing the car with a golf club causing him to lose distraction and have the crash is more believable to me. Then there was the issue of him taking prescription pain medication. For his knee surgery? Shouldn't he be off pain meds by now? So that leads to speculation about addiction.

I wouldn't be so much upset about an affair because he's always been a private person and not ever done the whole family values moral compass thing. But how well do we really KNOW these athletes? We don't. I never thought Tiger would be the kind of person to get caught up in something messy like this, but at the end of the day I don't know that man. I never thought Elin was the kind of woman who would go postal and attack Tiger and then bust out car windows with a golf club, but I don't know that woman either. If the affair allegations are true, I say Go Elin. While I believe that most men cheat and that its not natural to be monagamous, most women are not trying to hear that. You took vows and if she lost it, I can't say I blame her. There's always been the stereotype that many black men date/marry white women because they will put up with more than your average black woman. Well...Elin did a bit to dispel THAT myth if this all turns out to be true. But wow....messy nonetheless. Hope it turns out to be something not scandalous.

So....Tiger turns the cops away for a third time, hires a high powered lawyer, and this alleged mistress is now being represented by Gloria Allred. Boy oh boy this is getting worse by the minute. I've read a lot of comments on other websites and the one thing I wish is that people knew the basic rules of law. Tiger has done nothing illegal and only has to show his license, insurance, and registration. His lawyer has done that for him and he's not obligated to talk to the police. But, it doesn't help that he's not trying to squash it. He has given a statement addressing the accident, stating what Elin did in response, and addressed the rumors that are spreading as false. This alleged mistress also denied the affair.

It will be interesting to see if he shows up Tuesday for a press conference for the golf tournament he is scheduled to play or if he even goes at all. He said he's sore. But this thing is taking a life of its own. All of the "where was he going at 2 in the morning?" Who cares where he was going? It was Black Friday. I go places at 2 in the morning all the time. The whole thing is just weird at this point. I think there is definitely more to come though. The unforunate part of celebrity these days is that with twitter, internet, 24 hour news cycle, etc...things spread very quickly and take on a life of their own within a matter of hours.

Edited to add: I really should not have been co-signing on Elin going after Tiger (if it was a domestic dispute) in the way that she did. There is such a double standard with domestic violence and if thats what happened, Elin should get the same treatment that Chris Brown has gotten. I was moreso co-signing on just generally going ape shit on him. Cuss, scream, throw things but a golf club is a bit extreme. All of this again is just speculation but Mmm Hmm...Tiger thought he got himself another dumb blonde who would just roll over and take it. Someone forgot to tell him that when you cross the wrong white woman, she will open a can of CRAZY on your black ass. And who knows? Maybe he slapped her and grabbing the golf club was her reaction. So much we don't know and probably never will. I, too am adding to the speculation. Can't seem to help it though...this thing is a mess.

Ashame but not really surprising. Ultimately, its still a private matter between he and his wife but this is something that shouldn't have long term effects on the Tiger empire. He's not the first, not the last, will get a public scolding and negative attention but this country has the attention span of a 2 year old. This will pass and we'll move onto something else. I am curious as to when these "transgressions" began though because I wonder if they started shortly after his father died. Usually when men have affairs its about them and something they feel is missing or lacking in their lives. Its just ashame all the way around. As with all of them, they are more sorry they got caught and now he will be working overtime to try and prevent any huge negative impact on his empire. I hope Elin scalds him the way he needs to be without any physicalness, but I wouldn't blame her for slapping him across the face. She, along with other athletes wives, have to understand what they are getting into when they marry these guys. And lets be honest, there are athletes and there there is Tiger Woods. Not saying any woman deserves it, but atletes have a rep for this. Hell...men in general have a rep for this its just that athletes have the allure of fame and money.

The one thing I now want Tiger to get off of though is this request for privacy. Someone should hit him in the head with a golf club for stupidity. You are the most famous athlete in the world, yet you have a Vegas "Becky" for a jump off???!!!! What made him think that would've been kept private? I love Tiger but the arrogance and ego have been there for years and it came back to LITERALLY smack him in the face this time. Now the man is doing what he needs to do to protect his wife because I think she did go upside his head and there's no need to add her getting arrested for domestic violence to Tiger's f**kups. If one could read between the lines with his original statement when he said "this accident is entirely my fault", he was stating the truth without giving the details. Had he been able to keep it buttoned up, there never would've been an accident.

Ray Lewis got away with a whole scandal that lead to someone's death and had his best football since that incident. I agree about the privacy thing though in that he can ask for it but won't get it. Well, if the Daily Beast reporting is accurate, he's offering millions of dollars for her to stay in the marriage, and that IMHO is the most reprehensible part of this whole sordid mess. We really shouldn't care whether Tiger gets a little on the side - that is between him and his wife, and is only interesting because it pretty much shatters the public image he's been building for years. But offering money in exchange for "keeping up appearances"? Isn't that akin to high-priced prostitution? If the marriage is over because of his cheating, it would be far better for him to man up and admit what's going on. Pretenting their marriage is whole and happy just so he can maintain that image and she can be guaranteed a bunch of money is truly an attack on the sanctity of marriage - not that the anti-gay "pro-family" crowd will make a peep about it.

All we have to go off of is when the cameras are on, but most of the time we don't see Tiger on tv so who knows what could be going on.

Tiger is taking an "indefinite" leave from golf... and now the game is wide open. Anybody can win. Networks and sponsors are not happy, though, as Tiger brings ratings and $$$. But it's a chance for a new star to rise from Tiger's ashes (Sergio, are you listening?) and catch the public's attention. The casual fans might start ignoring golf, but when Tiger makes his comeback tour... the spotlight will be back on.

A good commentary from Whitlock, and I agree with most of what he says, with the exception of his argument that part of what's fueling the outrage and controversy is that a brown man has hurt and humiliated a blond white woman by committing infidelity with a long string of other white women. But I have no argument with the rest of it. But sympathy? You gotta be kidding. Much like Andre Agassi's recent drug revelations, I feel there are others far more deserving of my compassion.

Accenture has officially ended its relationship with Tiger.

Not a surprise that some of his sponsors are either limiting or ending their relationship. Money and the bottom line rules above everything else. But, they'll be back once all this blows over. Tiger's biggest sponsor in Nike is the one I'm watching. They released a pretty strong statement after his announcement he's taking a break that they will stand behind him.

Tag Hauer is changing their language a bit from what they said this morning. They are now stating the old "we will evaluate our relationship with him over the next few weeks". The bottom line is..well...the bottom line. Nike stands behind him now but if their sales fall off, they will drop Tiger like a hot potato. In the end, the almighty dollar trumps all.

It'll be harder for Nike to drop Tiger since they sell Tiger Woods branded products and that would mean dropping an entire line. But I could see them putting more emphasis on the Nike Golf line and on other golfers.

Nike will be the absolute last one to bail on Tiger due to the fact that Tiger IS Nike Golf. They weren't really involved in golf at all until Tiger came along. And seeing as they are a sports company, a scandal like this is less likely to impact their bottom line than these other companies.

Honestly though, if I currently use Gillette products and am satisfied, I'm not going to stop using Gillette because their TV spokesman is cheating on his wife. I think some of these companies just panic so quickly. Would I be happy to be giving money to a company that is giving money to a cad like Tiger? No. But he'd have to have done something far worse than cheat on his wife for me to stop using a product I like. Maybe on in the minority on this issue.

As for Tag Hauer, do people still wear watches? With the advent of cell phones, I see fewer and fewer men wearing watches.

OMG yes I still wear a watches. I feel naked without them. Plus, I love mixing up different watches for different occasions. You have your leather strap watches that you wear with suits (1 brown band/1 black band), chronograph watches, casual watches, stainless steel/metal watches, summer watches w/canvas bands, etc etc. Watches are a part of my wardrobe.
