Do you want to find your evil twin on Facebook?

I was just reading in the paper today that there is a Facebook app (promoting Coke Zero) that will find your double. People upload their photos and then the system uses some facial-recognition program to find another photo that looks most like you. There are some issues about privacy rights, so think before you accept the app (I haven't done it myself; not sure that I want to discover another me; as it was, I was dismayed to learn that there is another person using my handle "canmark" on blogger) and some people have complained that it matched them with a person of the opposite sex. What's particularly annoying is that this person has taken the "canmark" name for his blog... but then hasn't made any blog entries! Did he change his mind? Regardless, I could not use "canmark" on blogger because the name had been taken.

Actually, there's a site called namechk.com where you can check your name or handle on various social media sites.

I've just discovered that there's a "canmark" on MySpace. A 34-year old Danish straight guy. I wonder why he calls himself canmark. Seeing as my name is MARK and I am from CANada, I think I am the sole person with the right to that moniker.

I've just discovered that there is a company named after me: Canmark Distribution. This Danish company (I guess that's where Danish canmark gets his name) produces some sort-of athletic compression shorts called Coreshorts. Cool. Would they like to hire me to endorse their product?

And there's another company called Canmark Technologies Ltd.

Now why aren't I getting royalties from these companies?

I wonder if there's a way for you to get that name for yourself. It's obviously not being used. Judging from that one "post" is it possible some program auto-created it?

What if you find out that "you" are actually the "evil" twin?!
