Isn't she engaged to a hockey player? Guess she better learn "Oh Canada"!

Carrie Underwood is engaged to the Ottawa Senators' Mike Fisher.

Great performance by the Saints. Happy for Scott Fujita.

I was with you on the Saints and was really glad they won. But Carrie Under-whelm was terrible doing the Banner. She's got some voacl talent but it must have missed the flight to Miami.

As someone who loves N'awlins, I was so pleased they won. laugh.gif I can only imagine Bourbon street this morning! Bet its one happy, stinky mess! Loved the halftime show too, even though I am not a huge fan. Way to go Saints! You proved so many so called experts wrong! laugh.gif

Just read where 106 million people watched the Super Bowl. Became the most watched program in the U.S. EVER. And deservedly so! laugh.gif laugh.gif

I was happy the Saints won, happy for the city and Drew Brees. And has been mentioned it was top viewed show in US TV history, quite a feat considering there were no big market teams involved.

Nielsen ratings don't count gatherings in bars, and a lot of people were snowed in. laugh.gif

Anyway, I read here that while the number of viewers was most ever (106.5 million to 105.97 million for the finale of M*A*S*H in 1983), the country had 75 million fewer people back then. The M*A*S*H finale had 60 percent of homes in the USA tuned in. Sunday's Super Bowl had 45 percent -- that's not even the highest percentage for a Super Bowl. In 1996 the Dallas-Pittsburgh SB had 46 percent of homes.

You're right Joe. But as Alan Alda himself pointed out there are a lof more channels competing for viewers now, not to mention other forms of videographed "entertainment" like the internet, Twitter, Facebook, etc.

Yeah...that was the thing that stood out to me the most. I thought the MASH finale would've stood the test of time because there were such fewer channels back then. Now with a bazillion channels thats still quite remarkable to get that many viewers. Yes we can break down population and percentages, but thats still a hell of a record to break.
