Hard to believe they'd trade him within the division.

I knew he would be traded before the draft, but I didn't think they would send him to the Skins. I kept thinking the 49ers would be the place. Now we will have to play against him twice next year. This also means that Michael Vick will get paid 5.25M this year to play back-up to Kevin Kolb.

I thought it would be the 49ers or the Cardinals or possibly the Vikings if they knew for sure favre wasn't coming back. I would have thought that if they were going to deal with a division foe, they would have gotten more than what they did.

The Eagles were very good with McNabb. NFC Championships. A Super Bowl appearance. But, he didn't get it done. As an Eagles fan, I like the fact that they have been an excellent team with McNabb at the helm. But the "brass" has obviously determined that they can't get to the promised land with him. I think they have also concluded that it will take 3 years, or so, to retool so that the team can continue to be among the elite. With that premise, what difference does it make that they traded him to the Skins? So he wins a game or two against them this year, or the next..or the year after?

IMO, it all comes down to Vick. The Eagles have on their payroll (for a small salary, relatively speaking), the player who not too long ago was the highest paid player in the NFL, a talented QB and someone who is younger than McNabb. And he is their backup!!

Watching TV tonight, and reading online, the fickle Philly fans are in a lather. These are the same fans who hardily booed the McNabb draft pick...and, in another context, wanted to drive out the Phillies ownership and coaching staff.

I don't object to this move. Time to move on.

Unexpected, to say the least. I tend to sit on things a bit before I blog about them, but this one came quickly. smile.gif
