I am so not sorry for the employers of this flight attendant.

True someone could have been hurt by the descending emergency exit ramp.

But they weren't.

So this guy gets the gay medal of quitting award, regardless of his sexuality. rolleyes.gif

What I don't get is that the flight attendant was arrested, but apparently nothing happened to the passenger who assaulted him. They should both be in jail.

LOL STOP IT!!! I love the title and when I saw him being taken in my first thought was definitely "How you doin?!!

I commend him for his actions. I've been there before.

I've read lots of positive comments about him on the Internet. Seems like he's become a kind of folk hero (Free Steven Slater t-shirts are available for sale, and there's the requisite Facebook group--63,000 people and counting). Anyone who works or worked in the service industry has probably felt that way at some point. And everyone who's flown knows how rude some people can be. It was epic. Give this guy a reality-TV show, or get him on The View or Larry King.

But these other details of his life seem interesting, too. Although gay, he had been married to a woman previously, and is still on good terms with the woman. And I've read reports that after he fled the plane he went home and was having sex with his boyfriend when the police arrived. Announcing "To the f**king ass**** that told me to f**k off, it’s been a good 28 years!" and escaping the plane via emergency chute (with beer in hand), running across the tarmac, fleeing the airport in your car... and then having the police arrive at your house to arrest you while you are having hot man sex. This guy's life needs to be made into a movie. Hilarious!

OMG, check out this Chinese news report, complete with animation of the event. Particularly funny when he runs into the arms of his shirtless boyfriend (around the 41 second mark) and closes the door. (Note: someone needs to tell the animator that JetBlue doesn't fly 747s.)

Okay, at first, this story is hysterical.

At first...

But did Slater conduct himself in a professional manner, when confronted with a passenger who was rude and in violation of federal air safety regulations? No.

Did he take into account the safety of passengers or ground crew, when he engaged the emergency chute? No.

When he ran off the tarmac through the terminal to his car in the employee parking lot, did the police or other authorities react in a timely fashion? This is being looked into right now. What if someone other than an over-burdened and fed-up employee had done the same?

I have a certain amount of sympathy for a man who must deal with an increasingly uncivil public. But his reaction is troubling. I certainly would not want to be on an airplane, if he were part of the crew.

All I can say is I respectfully disagree. It is ridiculous what people in the service industry have to put up with. One Leona Helmsley was much more than enough in this tired, recession-weary, overworked and overstressed world.

He should argue that the blow to his head influenced his decision making process and that it was all due to a workplace injury.

Having known many flight attendants from the glory days I have real empathy for them today. This guy overreacted for sure. But it is appealing under the "things I'd love to do, but I know it's inappropriate" category.

I've noticed a dangerous trend within the past decade. It seems as if people have become more rude and far gutsier at doing inappropriate things in public. Maybe it's all the "reality" t.v., maybe downfall of society, who knows...overworked and underappreciated...welcome to the real world. As much as we want to "hero" this man, he should have taken the high road. Granted, it made for a clever You-Tube spot, but he still shouldn't have done that. Flight Attendants really do have serious jobs...job number one is safety of the passengers. I don't think any passengers were in danger because of his actions, but I don't know for sure, as I was not there. In the end, I think he will be just fine, however. So will the crabby bitch who started it all...LOL!
BigBlueCowboy
Now, Slater's story may not be what it appeared to be at first. Many passengers on the flight dispute his version. Sounds like the guy fell off the wagon to me!

And he still wants to fly?!?
mdterp01
Yeah...the story is changing real quickly as other passengers are coming forward talkin about how they asked for something at the beginning of the flight and he rolled his eyes talkin about some "I have to take care of me first, honey". Yeah ok...I wish a flight attendant would throw shade at me like that. Even if the story was how he was saying it was in the beginning, the opening of the door and sliding down the chute was overboard. I think he represents many in the service industry who have to put up with rude people but at the end of the day, you chose to work in that field...not me.
