Did anyone see a comment LZ Granderson made about athletes and how he would out them if they said "dumb shit"?
I was a little pissed at his comment until I realized what he meant, and besides the thread I found it in somewhere else was a symphony of teary eyed bitching by a bunch of men, I wanted to know what you guys think about his comment.

I tell them 'Look dude. If you don't say dumb shit, I won't out you. I catch you saying dumb shit, I am going to tell people about your business,'" says ESPN and CNN writer LZ Granderson

Well I suppose it is similar to others in public life. like politicians. I really don't care if you are in the closet and not ready to come out, but if you use your public platform to attack me then I do feel free to fight back which may mean forcing you out of the closet and showing what a hypocrite you are.

No problem with it whatsoever. You make anti-gay remarks in public but you're actually gay, you get outed. I want all the rich gays to take up a collection amongst themselves and put up a $1 million bounty for the gay sex tapes of any anti-gay politician/celebrity.

I'm not sure where I stand on this. As a gay man, I think any closeted person who makes anti-gay remarks or consistently votes for anti-gay legislation should be outed. But as a journalist, I think outing someone presents some thorny ethical issues.

I would think it would be easier as a journalist. If a closeted gay person makes homophobic remarks and the journalist KNOWS that he/she is gay then reporting that is only context to the remarks. There would be a reason. Just doing it is another matter.
