Do we think he'll take Jeff Kent with him wherever he goes (looks like Chicago?) And if Papa Bell receives a call from some team will Baby Bell be likely to leave SF?

Unless Kent plans on a return to 3rd base, I don't see him coming with Baker to Chicago, should that be the case, and it looks good. There's prospects Bobby Hill already at second, Hee Seop Choi at first, and the oh-so-delectable Alex "Thank God For Tight Pants" Gonzalez at short. It's possible, but I don't think it's likely.

As a Giants fan, I am not at all pleased that Sabean and Baker's pissing match has resulted in Baker leaving the team. Its too bad that their egos prevented them from striking a deal to keep Baker in SF. The players wanted Baker to stay. The fans wanted Baker to stay.

As a recovering Cubs fan, I'm hopeful Dusty will land in Chicago and bring salvation to the long suffering fans on the North Side.

whazzup sfhoya!!! How's it going?

in regard to your note.... I do feel sorry that Baker has to endure the ignominy of being let go after leading the Giants to the World series... I'm sure that situation will lead some people to grumble about the "race factor" cuz Baker's black etc etc..... not really looking forward to that. I am glad that LaRussa won for the job he did with his team with all the tragedies that did strike.

How's this for odd?

Jim Fregosi has stated that he's interested in the Giants job, though no one in the Giants org has contacted him.

Uh, that's gotta make his current employers, the Braves, happy, I'm sure.

He's totally recycled goods, IMHO. As someone (Lasorda?) once said, once you're in the club of Guys Who Have Managed Major League Clubs, you're in. No matter how awful you are, you'll always be considered because you "have the experience". Note: this might not apply to Managers of Color; they might only get their one chance.

BTW, what's Rich Kotite doing these days?
