The Crew Classic is an annual regatta held in San Diego's Mission Bay. Most of the teams are college-level, but there are also some, high school, masters and private clubs that participate. I took these at this year's event today.

One of Cal's JV crews getting their due

Two hot men on one of Cal's novice boats

A rower from Orange Coast College's crew checking things out

Two Texas rowers readying their boat

UCSD rower enjoying himself

Crew Classic is in the spring, but every autumn the San Diego Rowing Club hosts the appropriately named Fall Classic. The regatta includes a mix of club and university boats from all age groups rowing a 4.2 mile course in San Diego's Mission Bay. From today's event:

Rower pulling alone.

Four men straining.

Checking things out.

Is that a dog bone in the left side of his singlet or is my lust making me see boners everywhere?

I'm surprised my eyes even got around to that considering the beautiful distracting mounds he has his thumbs on.

Those are his socks -- since we rowers have no pockets on our "unis" (short for unisuits), we usually stuff our socks (or water bottles or just about anything else) into one of the legs so that we can use both hands to carry the boat and get it on the water.

What an interesting way to roll a sock. Is that normal, coincidental, or does he have a sense of humor?

It's spring, and the rowers returned to San Diego last weekend.

Big men wearing their big Cs.
Scruffy and pulling hard.
Men, men everywhere.
Aggie freshmen straining.

The thirty-fourth running of this San Diego regatta was this weekend, so I'm resurrecting the thread for a third year to share some of the sights.

With shirts like those we all need sunglasses.
Luckiest woman in San Diego.
This water is cold!
Gotta be an optimist.

And the weird things is that almost everyone, including most of the guys, seems to be staring at his "happiness". Etiher they are all pretty cool about looking at another guy's crotch or it's some sort of joke that we are not on to (the bulge that is).

Think he could be deliberately wearing a sock or something in there as a joke? Or do swimmers carry some sort of equipment that he's arranged to make look like an enormous bulge?

If it's all him then them staring seems pretty "gay".

What's weirder still is that I didn't even notice the bulge the first time I looked at the photo. Only after I saw finneye's post did I go back to see what he was referring to.

I must be getting really old, or really feeble-minded. blink.gif

These are great photos. I love rowers and when I lived in South Jersey, I used to go to the NCAA Rowing Championships that were held on the Cooper River in Cherry Hill. There were hundreds of hot rowers in singlets and shirtless. It was sensory overload. I might have to go to San Diego next year.

I don't think he's wearing a sock, but just storing his socks there. Many of the rowers tuck their socks in their leggings due to the absence of pockets. While I'd love to attribute the bulge to some ulterior or egotistical motive, I think this is just a case of utility, and some lucky timing on my part for the facial reactions. Thanks for all the feedback.

*sigh* How many times have we been fooled by a sock that we thought was a bulge?

The rowers came back to San Diego this weekend.

Everyone likes a winner

It was how big?

Little known fact, there are LOTS of gay rowers.

In all seriousness, congrats to the U of Washington, including quite a few of my old friends, who basically ran the table.

Thanks for these pics. The "C" with the vpl is Q-UTE.

As far as the sexuality goes I will take your word for it.

As far as UW goes, f**k yes! Having friends and acquaintances spread throughout various boats in the program success is nice to see.
