In an unexpected occurrence, last year's Elite Eight is pretty much intact with the exception of Roddick.

Here's a flashback to last year's Elite Eight match-up's

EAST REGION:
(12) Joey Harrington vs. (3) Ben Cohen

SOUTHEAST REGION:
(5) Michael Owen vs.(6) Kyle Boller

MIDWEST REGION:
(1) David Carr vs. (6) Brad Ausmus

WEST REGION:
(1) Jeremy Bloom vs. (2) Frederic Michalak

Will the final four men standing be the same (it is possible) this year or will we have a new Final Four?

Maybe they are confusing to people who don't know them. I don't think they look alike.

They don't play with the same ball. The world cup is coming up in two months so Owen deserve some encouragement.

Owen is trailing. FM naked pic is on the front page; there will be legal action against this injustice - FM will be disqualified.

If Ausmus makes it against FM, I'll be voting Ausmus and asks OW supporters to do the same.

That all depends on who you ask.

Roddick is only 12 votes behind Bloom. It's possible he can pull an early upset if all the late voters come on strong for him. He is after all very friendly, blond, tall, nice washboards, lover of rabbits and other furry things, not really attached to anyone (eligable?), never been accused of any bad doings, and not self-effacing the way Bloom is. I like a man who doesn't mind talking about himself. It sort of rings hollow when a really stunning man, like Bloom, says looks are superficial. Okay, try telling that to...oh, someone ugly.

Damn, shore. If you would have said Roddick liked to bitchslap the fuzzy bunnies with a topspin kick serve, he would have been my man!!

Okay, which four voters went after me and voted for Bloom? Now Roddick is 16 behind. What do I have to promise in order to sway the remaining voters to vote for:

a man who leaves Reebok after having to wear a shirt ridiculed by everyone and becomes:

Let's see -- someone who was born in Nebraska and is still a big Husker fan (despite his misguided selection of Austin as a new home) vs. someone who played for the Bluffaloes. I'd say the choice is clear!

okay eddiecat and norcalhusker, two votes recorded but one for bloom and one for roddick--i smell something fishy here.

I had to wake Joey up this morning and help him prepare his concession speech to that bastar...fellow Quarterback David Carr. I will spend the rest of the evening consoling him. Metromathis, it looks like you will be consoling Michael Owen, but Joey's mine!

A little over 3-1/2 hours remain. A-Rodd needs a miracle to oust Bloom and overcome a 13 vote deficit. Otherwise, Eddicat, Shore & NorCal can fight over taking care of a booted (once again) Roddick.

Since no one in the 2006 KOTH hardwood field seems to be a match for Jeremy Bloom, I've decided to take matters into my own hands.

My vote was recorded long ago, shore. Bloom is hot, but not in that uniform. I actually wouldn't mind both of them getting to the final four, but they're going head to head (*ahem*, which I wouldn't mind either).

Ausmus and Cohen? You can have 'em both. I can appreciate that Ausmus is a handsome guy and I know that many others will go GaGa4him, but he does absolutely nothing for me. I'm sure he'll be terribly upset to hear that. :cool:

We started off with 64. And now, we are down to the Final Four is set:

On the left side we have:

East Champion Freddy Michalak vs.
South Champion Brad Ausmus

On the right side, we have:

West Champion David Carr vs.
Midwest & 2-time defending KOTH Champion Jeremy Bloom.

Michalak & Carr are new to the Final Four. Aumus & Bloom have been there before.

Who will win? Who wil crack under the pressure.

The guys are taking the weekend off to prepare.

Voting begins Monday morning at 12:01am and goes until Tuesday at 11:59pm.

13 proves to be an unlucky number.

Carr vs. Bloom: Ugh! I like neither but I don't think Bloom is as big a holy roller than Carr.

We need new blood in '06!

With the same format, it's going to be the same story every year. Our tastes aren't going to change that much, especially considering the aggregation of voting.

Perhaps it would be fun to divide the four regions into something more superficial. Let the goateed ones face off against each other in their own bracket. I know I'd be more interested if the more bearish guys lasted longer. We bear lovers are in the minority, so we don't get much fur eye candy in these things.

Maybe set it up so one region has all newcomers, thereby ensuring some new faces. Or else in '07 will have Bloom against someone else. My guess is that when Bloom is 90 he'll still win with people remembering his pics when he was 20!
