Okay, I am biased towards hockey, as most of the hockey thread guys will note. I have seen just so many damn hot good looking hockey players this season from all over the place. Too many names comes to mind. Hockey is first for me. For second I would have to say Baseball players. I am not a huge baseball fanatic but I have seen plenty of lookers from within this group. Third I would have to say Football. I can recall a few really fine looking players. Last for me would be Basketball. Now, college, thats a different story. wink

I'm with you about hockey and baseball being first and second but for third, I'd go with basketball--especially if we include such retired players as Tom & Dick Van Arsdale, Gail Goodrich, and Pat Riley (during his playing days)--followed by football. But hockey is so far ahead of the other three, they almost don't matter.

I'm not sure how I'd rank one sport instead of another, personally. In all four sports there are spectacular-looking guys who usually are in great shape. Football has the oddity of especially heavy guys on the offensive/defensive lines (sometimes it looks good, sometimes it looks like fat), and basketball has the oddity of having more ultra-tall guys.
Baseball, for me. No contest. Actually, hockey probably has a lot of good looking guys too, but the uniforms aren't exactly flattering.

Baseball players. Thank God for baseball players.

Jun 17 2004, 09:42 PM
With hockey players, you can never see any of their faces, so I'd have to say baseballers. Although I suspect, hockey players overall would probably be best looking if they didn't wear such heavy uniforms. Of ALL sports, I'd probably say tennis or soccer.

Among the 4 major sports it's gotta be baseball, hands down....now if you are including the "lesser" sports I still believe that gymnasts have the best overall physiques of ANY athlete.
BTW, if any hot hockey players or studly football jocks are reading this post please don't be offended -- there are quite a few of you that I wouldn't turn down in a heartbeat either.

Hockey is very entertaining and there are indeed some great looking players (since nobody is 'naming names' here, I'll refrain, but us regulars from the hockey threads already have a pretty good idea of who each other's hotties are wink ). However, in terms of the visual appeal of the athletes while they are actually playing their respective sports, I would have to rank both baseball and football players higher than hockey. The uniforms of baseball and football players tend to highlight certain parts of the anatomy better than hockey uniforms. Plus the type of contact one sees between players...I prefer a tackle, or a tag at home plate, over a body check. And lastly, baseball has the advantage that you can actually have a good look at those handsome faces (apart from the catchers) throughout the game.
I can't really speak for basketball since I almost never watch it. I'm not partial to seven-foot tall men, but to each his own. By the way Puckman, I'm glad to see that hockey is still considered one of the 'four major sports' in the USA...the TV ratings down there during the NHL playoffs made me wonder about that! (Adam, I thought maybe curling had surpassed hockey in popularity wink ).

1. Baseball
2. Football
3. Hockey
4. Track & Field

somewhere down at the bottom of the list:
15. NBA
16. WNBA
The only real question left in my mind is: which baseball team has the most hotties ....
Nomination: Bosox.

Though the only sports I'm truly a fan of our Hockey and Lacrosse(can you guess what I played). I would have to say baseball. Though it's the most boring game I can sit there and watch it just for the eye candy. Baseball players also seem to be the dumbest.

Baseball. Followed by Nascar. Then football and hockey. Then by the country music men's softball team. With Chris Cagle pitching and Clay Walker catching.

Ah....curling!! There are numerous hot curlers and once ESPN starts airing it--and giving it the same promotional push it gives the NHL--curlers should be as familiar as hockey studs here in the US. wink
By the way, nice post Marc--very thoughtful and well-reasoned.

Call me totally biased, but football players blow the socks off of baseball players when it comes to good-looking.
There is NOTHING more attractive than a starting QB. The guy could be a veritable goblin, but he'll be hot as hell if he is a QB.

i know it goes outside the parameters set in the title (4 major sports, and all), but here i sit in a hotel in london in the middle of a two week business trip, watching soccer, wondering where these gorgeous men have been all my life! these soccer lads are gorgeous.
within the parameters, hockey, definitely hockey. some of them boys are purty enough to make squeal like a pig!

Hockey players do look the best, but their uniforms suck and I don't get into the sport.
Football is second. Can't get enough of teams
like the Texas Longhorns and their see thru pants.
Baseball third. Lots of bulges but they are cup enhanced. I want Andy Petitte bad. ;-)
Basketball. Baggy uniforms. Guys too tall.
Of course, NOTHING beats wrestling.

Since other sports are being mentioned here, I'll add Australian-rules football and beach volleyball to the list. They don't get as much TV coverage, but players of these sports (generally) fall in the category of 'eye candy'. I'm glad that beach volleyball is now an Olympics event (since '96) so I'll get to watch it this summer.
Adam, thanks for the feedback. As for curling, given the sport's surging popularity in southern California and elsewhere in the US

, I'm sure it's just a matter of time before ESPN starts pre-empting other sports to satisfy the public's thirst for the heart-stopping drama of a Brier!

Baseball- tight white uniform and close up action. Swimmers- there isn't much you can't see. Track and field- ever seen a pole vaulter that wasn't hot? and lastly golfers- yes I know you don't see much skin or tight fitting clothes-but I really find something sexy about golfers- look at Adam Scott, Ricky Barnes, Tiger Woods just to mention a few wink wink

Gotta go with hockey, though baseball is right up there too. Just remember my days at Michigan State and seeing those hockey players around campus...just something really hot about those guys.
Swimmers do have great bodies, but the shaving makes them all look too much the same. At least I can imagine that all those hockey players aren't shaving off everything!

Too bad track & field isn't a major sport because it would be #1 hands down!!! But I'd say basketbal is top dawg. There bodies (with the exception of Shaq and a few other big guys) are exactly what I like, not too thick, not too thin, but ripped like HELL!! Basebal would be second, then football. Hockey is a DISTANT last place because I can only think of one cute guy in hockey, Jerome Iginla.

I GUESS my answer would be 1. Football, 2. Baseball, 3. Basketball, and 4. Hockey
But ignoring the "4 major sports" portion, all of those sports would come after: Aussie Rules, Tennis, Gymnastics, Swimming/Diving, Volleyball, Track & Field and Soccer (in that order)

I used to think that football players were the best by far. But I had a friend introduce me to the hottness of hockey players. They are now first on my list, followed by football. Baseball would be next followed by a distant 4th in basketball. Those guys are just... well, be quiet me.

In my honest humble opinion
#1 Hockey. No question in my mind. There are so many fine, goodlooking, many, many hot, muscled men its not even funny.
#2 Pro football. I can think of many a hunk of pro footballers that come to mind. Curt Warner gets me going for one. Steve Young really did it for me. The real biggie for me would have to be Brett Favre.
#3 Baseball. Its really close in my opinion, between football and baseball, in fact close to a tossup, but I would give pro football a slight edge in my mind. Really, really close though. Just my opinion.
#4 Basketball. I can think of a few. But in my mind there are more college basketballers that get my blood flowing versus the majors.
Homorable mention sports: Tennis. Andy Roddick, Blake, Moya, Marat Safin, Kieffer, Robby Ginepri all melt my butter. But just a few of the many hot tennis players on the pro circuit.

That's a toughie. For the longest time I had the hots for Bobby Higginson formerly of the Detroit Tigers. Some baseball players jsut seem to have it!! Then again, each sport has a certain group of real studs but I think baseball would be tops on my list.

Despite the propensity for missing teeth, I gotta say hockey also -- Patrick Marleau of the Sharks being exhibit #1.
Of the less than major 4 sports, LACROSSE. They've got the legs of soccer players with the added bonus of generally better upper body development.
And then there's water polo....

Much as I love hockey and think it has some truly handsome guys, the sport has more than its fair share of hideous ones too, and not all that much middle ground in between. I think on average baseball would come out the winner in this competition. The majority of guys are in great shape, have handsome faces, and all their own teeth.
