Now he has us in his sights.....
http://www.mercurynews.com/mld/mercurynews...ts/11895703.htmI really want to be irked by what he said, but man this guy seems to be a few cards short of a full deck.

To me, his comments strike of ignorance, not hatred. They don't upset me because the story mentions that he has accepted gay teammates in the past.

Carl Everett is about 51 cards short of a full deck.
I recall that a few years ago, when he was with the Red Sox, he was quoted as commenting that "All men have their feminine side, I recognize that I have a feminine side." God only knows what that meant coming out of Carl Everett's mouth...

sometimes I wonder if he's really out there or if he just says this stuff to keep his name out there....this is his seventh club in 13 seasons and I can't imagine him being around too much longer there such has been the nature of his career.

If that's acceptance I'd rather he just not.
Why on earth is Maxim interviewing this guy, anyway? He's nothing special. He's not a star. Don't they have anything better to do? Lets put him on the Rocker scale and be done with him.

JIP, there are much bigger fish to fry than this guy. In fact, if he'd likely change his mind if he had a teammate who he actually got to know and educate him. This guy isn't a threat and doesn't spew the religious rhetoric some of these pro-Christian athletes spew.

He's an idiot, but if he can bring a pennant to the South Side, I'll overlook his idiocy for this year....

My sentiments exactly. Though maybe, he can be traded if Frank keeps cranking em.

redsoxbreath, I think we figured him out years ago when he got lost on his first day that he had to drive to Fenway, remember that? LOL
Another brilliant comment he made regarding the medias treatment towards him while he was here was, and this is his exact words "You're trying to made a man out of a monster" We should have listened, he was telling us he's a monster first, then a man.

The guy may be laugh-out-loud ridiculous in his statements, but ignoring or diminishing them is about as sensible as Jews ignoring the ignorance of Germans in pre-WWII Germany.
No I don't think idiotic statements like this are going to start a pogrom against Gays, but a laissez-faire attitude toward them will prevent Gays from ever becoming recognized as fully human. The man is at least as intelligent as George W. Bush, and that really scares me deeply.

I agree that it appears that Carl Everett is anti-gay because of religious ignorance. I am amazed of all the rational and logical

reasons that are used by those who are ignorant, religious or otherwise, in justifying their homophobia. So now it's because two men or two women can't make babies. It rivals the ever convincing "Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve" argument.
It sounds nice that despite his homophobia, he says that he has been accepting of gay teammates. However, I'm not entirely convinced. And it's continuously hearing statements like this that still keeps gay athletes in the closet.

Carl has a wife and five kids - yet I'm pretty sure he messes around with other women. Spring training time especially. Just saying I know second-hand about it.
For him to play a moral code thing about gays just pisses me off.

Carl Everett is the last person who should be opining on the subject of children. I don't recall the details, but when Everett was with the Mets he and his wife had at least one of their children taken away and put in a foster home for a bit because of some kind of "issue." I honestly don't recall if it was suspected abuse, or just some misunderstanding about nontraditional child rearing, but it certainly makes me think he's the last person who should be talking about what's good for children.
