There was a picture in the NY Daily News this morning of the annual Greek Orthodox tradition of blessing the water on their celebration of the Epiphany. A priest threw a crucifix into the frigid waters of the Hudson River. A young man dives into the water to retrieve it. The diver has done it before, and he is a student and athlete at a local college. Couldn't find the picture from today's paper on the Web. Located the story and picture from last year's ceremony, though.

I'm sure nobody has heard of this yet, but the final game of the Word Championsips in Ice Hockey took place Sunday night in Bratislava.

Arch rivals Finland and Sweden clashed, and for the first time in 16 years Finland brought home the championship trophy. This is a bigger thing in Northern Europe than Super Bowl ever in America, and the country went crazy as soon as the game was over. The 1-6 defeat was an especially humiliating moment to Swedes who, as always, had been very confident of their victory.
