I love bulging speedos on a good-looking stud as much as the next gay guy but I'm wondering if the FCC will force NBC to "limit" this guy's exposure. I mean, come on, there's a package and then there's a PACKAGE! I wouldn't be surprised if they try to use different camera angles on him in the future. Or worse yet, make male divers wear suits similair to what swimmers are wearing (darn!). If NBC shows any future competitions with this babe, I wouldn't be surprised if they try to angle the camera differently as to not show so much of his profile. I mean, we're talking about a network that practically showed womens beach volleyball 24/7. It goes to prove that the network, despite its Will & Grace audience, is still run by straight, up-tight, white guys.

That would indeed be very depressing if they limited the exposure of a guy's package. I mean, really. And by '08, Despatie's gonna be, what, 23? I imagine he'll be even hotter then. Between him and Marian Dragulescu, I really enjoyed the '04 Olympics (except for their nearly constant coverage of beach volleyball).

The beauty of a dive is in the artistic twists and turns of the diver's body and the attempt at a splashless break into the water. There is no way they can avoid showing the package no matter what camera angle they use. There will always be the side camera to follow the diver into the water, so, the buldge shot will always be there--no getting around it. Speaking of big buldges, damn, I wish Chipper Jones would become a diver.

Maybe we should wage a campaign to protect the Despatie package from underexposure. We could call it the The Battle of the Bulge and that pic could be on our standard as we go to war. :cool:

I bet they are moving so fast that you can't tell and when they are standing around they will avoid it. A quick camera and you have the basket shot...and what a shot it is

I think that the dive goes so fast, that even the viewers can't appreciate Alex's PACKAGE. (I vote that whenever we refer to Despatie's PACKAGE, that it should always be uppercase. wink ) But I agree with some that NBC or others may limit the angles when showing Alex prior to his jump and when he comes out of the water. Even straight on shots make that bulge look yummy, but I recall in some of the NBC coverage they always tended to do close face shots of Alex while on other swimmers they would do a wide shot that would show the whole body and swimsuit. But whenever Alex came on, it was always a close head shot or torso shot, but only passing glimpse of him full body from waist down. Sigh.

Kinda makes you want to be a fly on the wall in the satellite truck outside in the parking lot during a diving contest in which Alexadre participates. I'd love to hear the conversations between the director and the cameramen.

Director: "PAN UP! PAN UP! You're pointing the camera too low! Remember: only shoot from the navel and above when that Candadian kid is on the board!"

They might request that he only wear black Speedos which "hide" the bulge more. Geez, I'm gonna shut up now so that I don't give the FCC any ideas!

What's so "naughty" (for lack of a better word) in showing a well equipted man's bulge?

Could it be that deep - VERRY deep - down the men running the coverage don't want women to see a man that's bigger? Something about being insecured about one's own size?

There aren't a lot of breasty women in athletics...I don't remember many...but then again, why would I? Breasty...what a funny word!

Not to get too far off topic, but I've heard this is the real reason for the lack of male frontal nudity in films, that too many actors are insecure about their size.

Probably because most television producers, directors, and cameramen are male.

The Bulge The Networks Won't Show...

Ok, I have such a ridiculous crush on this guy. Then again, I had a crush on Greg Louganis waaaaaay back in the day. Unfortunately, Despaties claims to have a girlfriend. Dammit.

Oh yeah, no doubt that's the reason. They don't even do bulge shots... like in underwear and other tight clothing.

A lot of great points guys. I think overall though that when it comes to appreciating a man's package, it really is more a gay male preference than straight woman preference. Most straight women are more interested in the rear shots, not that there's anything wrong with that either! Not to make Alex one-dimensional, I offer up the view that he's also very charming! NBC did a profile feature on him and he was so laid back and relaxed when talking (and he didn't have a high-pitched squeaky voice) that made him even more adorable. It's no wonder that the INternational World swimming competition in Montreal next summer has announced that Alex will be the swimming event's official spokesperson. I hope he goes around making personal appearances to drum up interest in the 2005 event. I'd jump on a plane to Montreal anytime to see him in a speedo.

He's 5'7" and about 130-160lbs

okay, I can handle 5'7", but 130 vs 160 is a big differnce on that frame.

Well, take into consideration that at least 10 pounds of that is bulge.

WHAT? That's not a photo of Alex! He's 5'7" but he's not that small! The guy in the arms of Tony Ally is the young Kuala Lumpur diver who's 15 or something. He was the youngest competitor at the Olympics in diving. It says a lot that Alex is inspired by the success of a young swimmer to feature him in his "memorable moments" section. That just makes him even more adorable!

He was only thirteen when he won the competition (may have to copy/paste url into address)

I know it's hard to recognize him because THE BULGE is snuggled up to Ally's right nipple.

The mere thought of that gives me shivers. eek!

Well, if you look at him (besides the bulge in his Speedos), you might notice that he has some pretty big thighs. I don't think it's inconceivable that a guy who is 5'7 (though the Athens2004 site has him at 5'6") can carry 160lbs of mostly muscle. After all, look at bodybuilders, many of whom are not over 5'8"--they're friggin' yooge!

OK, my bad. In that photo he really looks like that Malaysian kid who was competing in the Olympics.

For me, I likes me Alex all grown up and big. I don't need to go back to his childhood days to see his developing days.

Alex's bulge reminds me of Tommy Rowlands' bulge. Both a big, but what reminds of of it is that, like Tommy's bulge (espcially in that Buckeyes' silve singlet), Alex's looks like it a big balls - as in BULL balls - bulge.

I think Alexandre has some girth to him.

Well I'm not shy about bulge analysis (though it isn't always the first thing I notice about a guy) and I say that one is no trick of the lighting. What first caught my eye, after that kind and gentle expression on his face, is the way his right pec bulges from the arm angle. Ooh!

While that was posted before Phelps' DUI bust, this thoroughly unsubstantiated item (which I utterly believe) from last fall solidified my suspicion that MP is just another jock-thug ass****:

I never found Phelps to be hot, in the least.....

I don't really think that hooking up with hot girls throwing themselves on you makes someone a thug.
