This is just what I’ve been looking for: Lots and lots of pics of guys in those good old Speedo racer “briefs”. Nothing like all those almost nude and wet bodies to get the endorphins (chemicals that give you that warm & fuzzy feeling) flowing.

On another bright note, I found this site from a large group of swimming professionals that want to get rid of all those eecchy “body suits” :mad: and jammers that Speedo, Tyr, and Niki are promoting:

Brent Mullins has shown a knack for showing up at the right place and time that is worthy of that old show "Candid Camera" in his shots at the FINA water polo championship.

Joona Puhakka, celebrating his 24th birthday on Friday this week, is a Finnish diving champion who studies marketing and dives (of course) at the Arizona State University.

He participated the Finnish Diving Championships in Helsinki on Sunday and I just "happened" to be there with my camera.

Yes Jim, all of the pictures in the flickr album were taken by me.
There were other divers too, but the most photogenic ones were Joona and his blond buddy in the prize ceremony pics, Ville Vahtola.
I have more photos too, especially of Ville, but for the time being I chose to display just the ones with Joona.

Yesterday in Budapest, the Finnish diver Joona Puhakka (representing Arizona State in wintertime)
won for the second time in a row the European Championship in men’s 1 meter springboard.

The World Champion from Russia, Alexander Dobroskok, finished second.

Christopher Sacchin, Italy, was third.

Fourth was Ilya Kvasha from Ukraine.
Ilya deserves a second look.

The Swede Magnus Frick was ranked fifth.

Joona jumping synchronized with Ville Vahtola. They haven’t had much change of training together as Joona spends most of his year in Arizona, and he tends to be jumping higher than Ville.

The Swiss pair of Jonathan Malusardi and Victor Augagner could also be a little bit more syncrhonized, but i still envy them for their speedos!

A Really Skimpy Speedo – Or None At All?

I ran across this story on Yahoo. In the second paragraph, it refers to him wearing “skimpy swimming trunks” –IE- a Speedo:

Cyd, Thanks for the swimming report on DVeatch and MTewksbury; pretty impressive! Tell Dan I said hi if you see him again - we used to both belong to the same club in SF and would swim together - me usually lost in his wake! He's a smart, classy guy who's been painted by Australian artist Ross Watson, a very talented artist who incorporates footballers and swimmers into his work, which often plays off wry classical themes.

Interesting - not to mention extremely sexy - photo of Ukrainian diver Ilya Kvasha competing at the gay games in Today's Picture this.

Aparently he also competed at the Stockholm 2006 Arena Diving Championship.

And to give an idea of the competition there, four time NCAA champion on the 3m board, Arizona U's Puhakka Joona (from Finland) got the Bronze at the same meet.

And yes, Joona (that's the first name) was also competing in the arena Cup in Stockholm earlier this year and ended up with bronze in 3 m springboard just like he did now in Budapest.

There is also a nice picture of him in the gallery mentioned by sportinlife, unfortunately the individual photos are unlinkable here because they have used parenthesis in naming the files.

Thanks for the correction. Finnish and Swedish name spellings are difficult for me to remember so I tend to copy/paste. In that case I forgot to put the names in the right order afterward.

College water polo is back in season, and local play opened with the Triton Invitational at UC San Diego this weekend. With two pools in use and fourteen teams in action, it's been a great holiday weekend.
