It was bound to happen. Alain Bernard is the first swimmer in history "to crack the 47-second barrier in the 100-metres freestyle with a stunning time of 46.94 seconds at the French championships in Montpellier" and immediately is inundated by a flood of controversy about the validity of his suit.

And nobody questioned where he gets that immense torso for such a skinny guy?

Not mention that "whatchamacallit" that runs right up to his....pits. Wonder what's going with those two in the background: the one with the satchell and the other with the dark coat. Looks like somebody's been cheatin'.

Wow! They were magnificent........so horny and beautiful. mmmmmmm! Too much buddy!

I love speedos anyway ( a huge turn on!) as the new body suits negate the beauty and sexuality of buff men.

But these Asian beauties did a helluva lot to fill that gap!

Spent some very interesting evening studying and "responding" to them!

US swimmer, Ricky Berens has a new take on the tech suit:

Awesome! I haven't yet seen anything on Outsports, but apparently the tech suits are going to be banned by FINA. Going forward, the guys can only wear suits that go from the waist to the knee. Anyone else heard this? I think I heard it on NPR last week.

Yes, FINA voted over this issue and voted to ban full body suits. The most male swimmers will be able to wear is something from their waist to the knees. Since most swimmers use something "light" in prelims and then go to their "full" suit in the finals, hopefully we'll see a lot more speedos being used.

Interesting enough, USA Swimming fully supported this bill and not surprisingly, Speedo is upset about (can't sell their absurdly expensive creations anymore).

The number of world records broken with the full body suits finally made it quite clear there was an issue. Even no name swimmers were breaking records. However, the records that have been broken will remain (some want them at least have an asterisk as these records will probably not be broken for years). And this rule will not go into effect until 2010.

So no more assless tech suits. I agree that no asterisk should go next to the times. The swimmers were competing within the rules.

Eric Shanteau is an inspirational story. He was diagnosed with testicular cancer just weeks before going to the Beijing Olympics. the cancer was removed weeks later.

Would "banana hammocks" be something like Lochte is wearing here?

Admittedly, there is certain aesthetics in the bodysuits as well, particularly as there is now more variety in color than there used to be.

I've been watching Ryan Lochte at the Rome Championships this past week. The flyaway hair, the crooked smile, the downward slanting eyes --- and I was trying to think who he reminded me of.
Then it hit me. He's a dead ringer for Marjorie Main circa "Meet Me in St. Louis" !!!!

Waht a shame it took a split in his suit to get cameras focused on Ricky Berens butt.

The guy has an unusually fine behind for a swimmer.
