Even with steroids taking some of the sheen off the Olympics, and though my favorite running competitions are the 4x400 and 4x800, the 100 and 4x100 are probably still going to be the marquee events and there's an interesting contest coming up this year because
Asafa Powell of Jamaica looks ready to
grab Maurice Greene's title.
I hate to say it but I'll be pulling for the young Jamaican, and maybe even their 4x100 squad which has less of a chance but emotion can go a long way. This 21 year old is a remarkable athlete.
I guess I just love an underdog and seeing a little country with a lot of seriuos problems get a little encouragement. The running events in general and the 100 in particular are much bigger deals for the Jamaicans.
Now let's pray the steroids don't raise their ugly heads.
[oh, and isn't Powell the most gorgeous creature you've ever seen - not that that swayed me at all
