That's genuine Finnish meat, you can at least tell it by the blue an white flag on his chest. It's the Finnish sprinter Simo Sipilä and don't you dare to call him a Swede again, or ... wink.gif

But I'll let you go this time, the rest of the pictures were very entertaining indeed!

My humblest apologies to you and the Finnish people (especially the ones with the "Finnish meat" wink.gif ) Finneye.

We "Amurikans" are Euro-challenged as you well know by now, especially when it comes to the Nordic folk.

And I will accept whatever punishment I justly deserve...as long as you're gentle and no permanent injury ensues. rolleyes.gif

Your humbleness is acknowledged, and on behalf of the people of Finland I grant you our forgiveness.
As a token I give you a gallery of decathletes’ (mostly European tongue.gif ) high jumping styles. I find this a discipline that is able to bring out some of the best qualities of those fine athletes. ohmy.gif

There is, however, also a punishment involved: while viewing this gallery, make sure to keep your hands where I can see them! (I hope no permanent injury will result from this.)

Aleksandr Pogorelov, Russia

Tomas Dvorak, Czech

Rudy Bourgignon, France

Laurent Hernu, France

Dimitry Karpov, Kazakhstan

Nikolay Tishchenko, Russia (why is the photographer always in the wrong side of the target?)

Trond Hoiby, Norway

Erki Nool, Estonia

Sébastien Levicq, France

Paul Terek, USA
(preparing to vault)

Bryan Clay, USA
(showing off his long jump talent)

Roman Sebrle, Czech

I just don't know what to do with you any more! But you asked for this yourself, so I have no choice, have I?
I just don't want you to think that I'd find this any more pleasant than you do. So here it goes:

Romain Barras, a French decathlete

who participated World Championships in Athletics held in Helsinki in the summer of 2005.

There are tons of pictures of him, with shirt

whithout it

or in between -

but he very quickly gets rid of it again

on his homepage with 13 photo galleries ohmy.gif

Alexandr Pogorelov, Russian, is another great decathlete

Alex after the long jump

and clearing great heights in pole vault

Aleksey Drozdov, Russian as well, jumping high

He is very exited about the track race too
but the discus throw does not belong to his favorites

Paul Terek from the US and his famous tattoo with all of his 10 disciplines

Paul is concentrating hard before his vault

And he cleares it!

The Shot Put also requires a lot of concentrating

Bruno Lambese, France, is a mighty hunk with great combination of beautiful colour and hard muscle

Bruno flying high

Will that singlet be strong enough for the tension?

Any tighter than this it would just burst

Bruno on the track

Jaakko Ojaniemi of Finland, in a rear view

profile in shirt

profile shirtless

Jaakko’s high jump performance

another try with more enthusiasm

aiming still higher

François Gourmet, France (as if you couldn’t tell by the name)

very delicious...

A soft landing (or was it?)

Nicolas Moulay, France, loves the colour red

as well as his pierced eyebrow

His style is perfect otherwise too

Cold metal against a hot face

He knows already this jump was no good

This height he cleared beautifully

A very sweet (number) sixteen

I’m too hot for my pits

Maurice Smith of Jamaica in deep thoughts

Maurice and the High Jump act

Maurice at it again

These poses one could watch forever

I wonder if he trains the sprint with Asafa?

Kristjan Rahnu of Estonia with his hairy legs

Roman Sebrle, the Czech Champion

is tired but happy

AHA!

Caught you red-handed, as it were, my sneaky little Finnish tormentor. mad.gif

According to my indoubitable sources Monsieur Gourmet is not French nor red, but in fact a buff hunk from Belgium whose colors are in fact red, black and gold! Now that you've caused me to waste an hour of my precious weekend staring helplessly at these masculine beauties you must pay the price for your insouciance. You must wait patiently while I devise a suitable avengeance worthy of the Flemish flame of anger boiling within the breasts of that horribly affronted, much maligned nation. Oh the punsihments they will heap upon your cold-hearted Finland!

Oh puleez... France, Belgium, what's the difference... They are just countries looking all the same somewhere in the middle of Europe, they even talk the same language and eat the same gourmet meals and drink their wines day in day out... The difference between Finland and Sweden is sooo much more important, although just two hundred years ago we too were more or less loyal subjects of the same monarchs...

But Belgium's revenge on us we already feel every single day when new European directives keep pouring upon us from their mighty Brussels that claims to be the capital of the entire continent.

But, alas, this only goes to show that I too am only mortal... Still, there is one thing I won't give to you, Nicolas Moulay DOES come from the home of the Freedom Fries (or, actually, it is Belgians who claim that they were the nation to originally invent them huh.gif)

Your pitiful pleas for leniency and transparent attempts to distract will go unheeded. In this country only Presidents and corporate CEOs are allowed such nonsense. Herewith your punishment: You must continously play this video throughout the long cold Swedish Winter. Your jailors:torturer #1 and torturer #2 will each hold one of your hands to prevent any unseemly behavior. May the Flemish gods be thus appeased. tongue.gif

I obviously have no choice but to submit myself to this most severe punishment. I hear the Swedish winter is much longer than the winter in MY country, so the punishment will be even more harsh. I deserve it, that I cannot deny. And as such a cooperative delinquent I'm sure that I will be granted the privilege to choose the way my tormentors will keep my hands occupied while watching the video. I must say I prefer a method where their hands in turn remain as free as possible rolleyes.gif

Permission granted. Torture suspended - for excellent behavior.

It was double Dutch glory in Birmingham on day one of the European Indoor Athletics Championships in the men's 60m hurdles final as fast-starting Gregory Sedoc led home a shock one-two for the Netherlands.
Sedoc pipped his close friend Marcel van der Westen in a dramatic finish in which only five-hundredths of a second separated the top five. Sedoc matched his lifetime best of 7.63 to repel the fast-finishing Van Der Westen by just 0.01.

rolleyes.gif This position seems to be their favorite tongue.gif
sportinlife
When I saw today's Picture This I immediately thought "Hmm, that looks like a Finneye inspiration."

May I offer the sincerest form of flattery?...imitation:

Despite a slew of fairly generic photos on the web...

Mr Sedoc is apparently not aversed to the occasional beefcake photo

And let me be the last one to complain

Love the very European camaraderie shown between him and..Mr van der Westen is it?

IPB Image

Even if Marcel hasn't shown us his "beef", he certainly seems protective of Gregory's

IPB Image

Euro athletes, as in many other countries, often justify supporting athletes through military training/salaries. Unlike the USA where even minor sports can garner exhorbitant private funding. All's the better for us since that means seeing Private Sedoc in uniform:

The two soldiers before and behind him give a very good example of the duality of the term "Man in the Middle".

IPB Image

Maybe that explains why he's so happy to....serve rolleyes.gif

IPB Image

If the photo below is his training uniform it certainly must attract the wondering eye if a few fellow recruits, since I strongly suspect that the Netherlands allows gays to serve in the military.

IPB Image

Not bad with his shirt on either

Tempted to put this one in my "What about the face? thread. But I'm too lazy to look it up. What a cute couple they would make.

Alas officer Sedoc may be beyond our reach

I won't disappoint with the pictures of him and his running buddy double-dating (yes FEMALES!!!) which are available for those who want to see something really pornographic. dry.gif

But hey, maybe he's open-minded enough to swing both ways, adding a new meaning to the term "double-dutch".

When I saw today's Picture This I immediately thought "Hmm, that looks like a Finneye inspiration."

In fact, it was a parallel inspiration of Outsports and myself; the Picture This was there ahead of my posting, and the source of my inspiration in turn was the live broadcast from Birmingham with those two Dutch treats setting up their human tower ohmy.gif

But let's have a look at day two with some Italian delicacies:

Massimiliano Donati, 14th in the semifinal of the 60 m sprint

Massimiliano again

Fabio Cerutti made it to the final finishing 4th in the semifinals

Nicola Ciotti, 18th in the high jump qualification round

And, of course, the almost mandatory pose in the air of Andrew Howe who naturally made it to the long jump final.

Here Marcel van der Westen is, actually, looking beyond his native country's borders and showing his affections to another fellow sportsman, Jackson Quiñónez of Spain.
There is no doubt that in Marcel's eyes, Jackson would be a perfect runner-up to Gregory. Perhaps he has an even higher tower in mind? Or a pile?

Quiñónez finished with bronze in the same event, so the three of them might have a lot to talk over later on...

New to this fantastic Website! Main interest - Track & Field. One concern! Why no mention or photographs of the amazing 70's hurdler Renaldo Nehemiah. He was "HUNG" and would give even the main man "Sanchez" a run for his money. So all of you with 70's photos of "Skeets Nehemiah", get them out and sent in to Hot Jock Talk. Superman (U.K.)

Nehemiah was at Maryland the same time I was, and if I remember correctly, lived for a while in Ellicott dorm when I was there as well, with many of the other track & field guys as well as other athletes.

It was a distracting time for me for obvious reasons. rolleyes.gif But he had tremendous success at Maryland and had it not been for Carter's Olympic boycott may have set world records in the hurdles in 1980.

As it was his greatest achievement was probably his Superbowl ring as a receiver with the 49ers.

Here's a pretty extensive professional bio with a current picture of a very distinguished looking gray-haired Nehemiah.

Hurdles is one of the technically most difficult events and you really have to be in a zone almost to get it just right. As he says in the article it is really as much an art as a sport.

Glad you brought him up. It brings back some very pleasant voyeuristic memories from my college days. smile.gif
Superman
Thanks for the info on "Skeets" Nehemiah. You were one lucky student to have witnessed this phenomenal athlete. Heh, and doesn't he still look superb in his older years! I remember seeing him hurdle in London (at the Crystal Palace track) and can still bring to mind, his superb technique as well as the beautiful bulge he carried under his very short shorts! Would love to see photos of him on this site. Really enjoyed the Football/Hurdling "still" on his Biog. Other hurdling hunks I have enjoyed monitoring include Willie May, Lee Calhoun, Willie Davenport, Guy Drut, Allen Johnson, Greg Foster, Terence Trammell, Mark Crear and many others.

Still feel that a jock and shorts (on hurdlers anway) stimulate the voyeur in me, more than anything!

Renaldo did more than most to further that interest!

Photos of hurdlers in action anyone?

You could be my dad (age-wise, I'm not demanding a paternity test). I'd never have guessed. Age is something that becomes irrelevant on a message board.

We neither have dorms nor student-athletes over here. Sometimes I think I missed something.

If you're as old as you feel then it depends on which side of the bed I wake up on. It's all good to us irrepressible optimists.

As for Nehemian in short-shorts, or anything tight, the memories are fantasies to put me to bed. What a body! And tight was in then.

As for hurdler pics - Felix Sanchez bidding for a comeback:
