I'm not really into track and field but there were some great-looking guys in these recent posts! Thanks a lot. I always thought Dan O'Brien was so incredibly beautiful: he really should have received more attention over the years. If anyone has any more pictures of Dan my guess is that I wouldn't be the only one who'd love to see them! smile.gif

Lauri Kalima is a Finnish sprinter, who used to train together with Markus Pöyhönen. Like Markus, Lauri's got talent for modeling career as well, and lately he has been more active on that front.

If you look carefully at that first pic (careful not to drop it now) it's obvious what was probably weighing that runner down: a case of excessive baggage between the legs. wink.gif

"superman" April 13th 2007

Thanks for new photo of Felix. Some man!

Have you checked out young Jamaican sprinter Dexter Lee on the IAAF Website? Not only talented but "built"!

Worth viewing if you have a copy...............The I.O.C. Official film of the 1960 Rome Olympics. An amazing record of the Games but notably a superb piece of footgae showing Willie May winning his heat of the 110 Metres Hurdles. Some man, some build, some jock! Sheer beauty in motion.

Superman.

If you're as old as you feel then it depends on which side of the bed I wake up on. It's all good to us irrepressible optimists.

As for Nehemian in short-shorts, or anything tight, the memories are fantasies to put me to bed. What a body! And tight was in then.

As for hurdler pics - Felix Sanchez bidding for a comeback:

IPB Image

Obviously more to him than that magnificent bulge. Those legs are real beauts!

Hi There Sportinlife & Finneye!

You guys are "The Best"! Assume you both must be USA-based as the majority of your photography is centred on American Track. For someone living in London, UK, the pictures are new, original and incredibly beautiful! Not to say, horny! Basically I have to make-do with the IAAF Site. Good as it is, it simply cannot offer the depth or breadth that you two guys do.

I am still eager to sample any pictures of track from other decades, particularly hurdlers, long and triple jumpers and sprinters from the 50's onwards.

The recent photos of Larry Myricks were OUTSTANDING. Handsome-plus!

How about Bobby Morrow, Mel Patton, Bob Mathias, Steve Riddick, Tommie Smith, Earl Young,................and of course, Renaldo Nehemiah?

Keep up the good work fellas! You have a true fan here!

Can't wait for Sanchez, Bramlett, Robles and co. to start their season!

Many thanks,

Cheers, Superman! I'm happy to tell you that I'm your fellow European, I live in Helsinki Finland. I also try as much as possible to post pictures of European athletes, as well as pictures I've taken myself. There are several great European sites with athletes' pictures, like the Italian federation FIDAL and the French Athle.

Luckily, the Internet does not recognize political borders, the only difference is in the time zones and of course some barriers based on different languages.

You can see some new as well as vintage photos from the early 80's (including my shots of Larry Myricks from 24 years ago in Helsinki) in my Flickr galleries.

Hope you'll find them enjoyable! I'll try to digitize more of my old stuff and post them in the Flickr site once I get round to it...

Thanks for the props Superman. Unlike Finneye I am not a professional and have only an occassional interest in historical photos which I find technically less satisfying than the modern, though sometimes gaudier, ones.

For me good photos are good art and I prefer my art realist in general. Hence the preference for more realistic modern photos but earlier graphic works: both enhance nature rather than avoiding it.

As for sites, tradeshark and IAAF are my most frequent haunts, but I can be a relentless surfer. Some of my favorite stumbled-upons turn out to be of Aussie origin. Australia is very sports oriented and the pics are often good technical quality.

For instance here is the blog of an Aussie Beef fan who I happened upon after reading your post

And here are some pics I like from the 2006 Commonwealth games held in Melbourne a year ago March:

Aussie synchronized divers Robert Newbery and Steven Barnett about to sit down hard

Ally and Shipman could be a couple of studs out on the town without their leather gear

Your countryman Dan Macey does his best imitation of a tattooed screaming queen

One could make fun of the name Brent Newdick if he weren't so good with that big Maori-looking spear.

Can't blame Canada's Arturo Miranda for watching mouth agape at fellow diver Alexandre Despatie

Skinny Aussie Jason Dudley's hairy chest and big...disc

Fellow Aussie Kyle Vander Kuyp is either really happy to be hurdling or has a lot of wind in those shorts

Oh, and welcome to the board. Enjoy.

Thanks Finneye!

Great to know you are a fellow European.

Thanks for your Gallery too...............some superb eye-candy there! Agree totally, that America does not have it ALL! I have admired Andrew Howe for some years now and also Darren Campbell and Chris Lambert. Truly pleased that you have picked-up on Lambert too. Decathletes are pretty HOT as well, at this moment in time.

Enjoy all your photos. Without wishing to pry too deeply, are you a pro. photographer and is Track your main interest? Understand your interest in Swimming too.

Have you any pictures of Pedroso, the superb Cuban long-jumper?

Came face to face with Felix Sanchex at Crystal Palace two seasons ago. Talk about heart-stopping! Such a truly handsome man!

Cannot wait for the Track season to start in Europe. Am aiming to spend a week at The Berlin Worlds in 2009.

Again, thank you sincerely, for your response. Keep up the tremendous work. Look forward to seeing more of your output very soon.

Here's to Track & Field and EVERYTHING in-between!!

Hi Sportinlife!

Thanks for the contact.

As with Finneye, your output is sensational, particularly the American Track scene. Keep up the good work.

Agree that the Aussies do have a very interesting perspective on photographing their athletes. They seem unafraid to show the most "upfront" of their guys and as always, their inherent confidence must play its part.

Have enjoyed watching John Steffenson, Ross, and a couple of their long jumpers. And Patrick Johnson still cuts the mustard!

There is a young Afro-American hurdler who this last season ran on the European circuit. Is his name Merricks? Have you any pictures of that fine young man?

Going back to Oz...........Kyle Van Der Kuyp was a hero of mine................and probably one of the last hurdlers to continue to enjoy wearing shorts and a jock. A handsome man indeed!

Anyway, thanks for the terrific shots................the will keep me occupied for some time.

This is a terrific BOARD! So pleased I discovered it!

If you look really carefully, I think you can see the butt strap line of the guy's jock strap underneath his spandex singlet. I think that's incredibly hot. I remember seeing some other picture of a pole vaulter wearing orange spandex--from Tennessee, I think--and you could clearly see the outline of his jock.

Speaking of hot hurdlers, one of my favorites is Anier Garcia of Cuba, who won the 2000 gold medal in the 110 hurdles in Sydney, and finished with the bronze in Athens. He's always stripping his shirt off, showing that hairy, toned chest!

Hi Superman. In reply to your question, I'm in no way a professional photographer. I've just always taken photos for my own great pleasure and if somebody else likes them too, I'm just glad! Most Track&Field athletes are so photogenic and that's why I like to shoot them whenever I get the change. The swimming pictures in the Outsports gallery are from the European Short Course Championships held in Helsinki last December, so the location was convenient enough for me. At the moment I don't know of any major events coming up in my area but I'm sure the summer will bring along something nice!

The Garcia photos are just superb, I wish I'd get a change to take some pictures of him sometime. Sometimes people claim the old fashioned running shorts to be too unsexy and dull. To provide additional evidence of the contrary, let me just enclose a link to a picture of an unknown athlete I took in August 1983.
It is an authentic example of the hotness of NOT wearing spandex.
You may not see so much details, but it certainly speeds up your imagination! (Although I feel tempted to do some photoshopping with that picture, it really is the untouched original!)

Thanks Finneye!

The contact was really appreciated. The 1983 photo certainly does prove a great deal. Superb! Perhaps it is just that tiny glimpse of white jock/briefs that "does the trick" for me, but I can safely say that I long for the day when more track and field dudes, revert to wearing the shorts and briefs/jock combination. Not that I am anti-spandex! God forbid! But there is a certain looseness and innocence about the shorts and jock combo, that really stimulates me.

I remember once having a face-on, very large picture of the beautiful Renaldo Nehemiah, in action. He was hurdling at full tilt and the cup of his jock was completely exposed. That was something else, I can tell you. Maybe if I hunt around, I can find it and publish it on the Track & Field Board. Amazing.

Have you any photos of the American sprinter, Maurice Spearman? Another extremely horny athlete.

Like you, cannot wait for the outdoor track season to really kick-off. What is it about athletics that seems to attract an endless stream of handsome and virile guys?

Long may their arrogance and pride in their physical beauty continue to stimulate us!

And keep up the great work. Love your pictures.

Thanks once again!

That "third" photo is a great example of sport photography as art. I love the way it captures the mental process of athletic preparation. No one can know for certain what takes place in the mind of a winner (not even the athlete him/herself IMO), but that's what separates them from all the other highly developed specimens they are up against in any given competition.

I'll admit my attention also lingered on "and last but not least" for a while too. Only because it hints of his religious orientation. rolleyes.gif

That singlet color , the hair and the lack of any visible jock-ular support suggests the man likes being looked at too.
