So...a post earlier got me thinking about this...How come we never hear stories about Pro athletes and their used undergear? I have never heard a story about a pair of underwear or a jockstrap that someone has of a pro athlete.
Do any of you all have any??? If you want PM me and let me know we can chat about this subject. If you don't want to post publicly!

Talk and Discuss boys!

I dunno about jockstraps, but former pro wrestler Tom "Z-Man" Zenk used to auction gear on his website (or a fan-run website), trunks, kneepads, sweats, etc.

Wait...I thought everyone had some! I know I've got my share of Phillies and Flyers used undergear from buying tickets to their games. If you have a Phillies full-season ticket plan in a club box, for example, you have your choice of Jim Thome, Pat Burrell or Mike Lieberthal. Alas, I only have a partial-season game plan in the lower level so I had to choose between Tomas Perez and Geoff Geary. (Naturally, I chose Tomas. I hate Geoff Geary.)

It's why you see them running into the clubhouse between innings -- so they can change. That way you get...let's see...9 per game (more if there's extra innings, a little less if a game is shortened due to rain), times 162 games equals 1458 per player, times 25-man roster equals 36,450. Throw in some more for the September callups from the minors, guys who were only with the team part of the year due to roster changes/injuries, and you easily have enough for all the season-ticket plan holders. The rest of them are sold at the Phillies' website on a first-come first-serve basis.

I'm not sure how other teams/leagues distribute their players' used garments.

You mean you've never heard the story of "The Little U-trou That Could?" How about "Goldijock and The Three Bears?" (I think JIP knows that one; he'll tell it to you some time if you're good.) Then there's "Jock & The LL Beanstalk," "Body Wrapunzel," "Nighty-nighty, Tighty-Whitey," and my own favorite, "Sleeping Booty." That one's a REAL eye-opener! eek!

I prefer the books for young adults like "Jockey Tremaine" or Mark Twain's "A Jocks Tail", "The Adventures of Jock Sawyer"; Charles Dickens "Hard Times" , "A Tail of two Jocks"; Pearl Bucks "The Good Jock"; A Dumas "Man in the Iron Jock" or that classic by Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra "Jock Quixote".

Neva says I ain't litrate. biggrin.gif

Never been that big a fetishist of sports gear: always much more interested in what filled the gear... chuckle ;->

So this is going to be an odd question..But the thought process started when I saw the bit on the OutSports Home page about Brian Urlachers jockstrap.

So we all know Baseball,Football and Hockey athletes use jockstraps...and UnderArmour etc.
I am sure they get thrown out in the trash from time to time...How come more of them don't end up in the hands of people looking to make a buck...or as a friend of mine says...Oxygen Masks?

Same with basic underwear etc. from not only athletes but Hollywood folk??? That stuff is thrown out eventualy....we have all heard of people rumaging through some stars trash...How come things like that don't end up on the market???

Any thoughts????
Let me know what you think!

How do you prove the jockstrap belongs to that particular athlete? I mean its not like your going to go up to David Wright and ask him to autograph his used jock? But I'm sure there are guys who are willing to try...
CoSportsNut
True...however I do know from experience that the players number and initials are written on the article of clothing.

So it would be easy to figure out who's was who's!

I too think it would be next to impossible to authenticate the item as well. What is to stop someone from writing in a number and name (or initials) inside of a jock and try to pass it off a the real deal.
