Just in time for the World Cup, comes this
slide show "The Boys of Summer" from the NY Times Magazine, featuring Kasey Keller, Brian McBride, Landon Donovan, DaMarcus Beasley, Clint Mathis, Pablo Mastroeni and Cobi Jones. OK, for me some of them -- Donovan's and Mastroeni in particular --- are way too posed ... but still worth a gander! (Registration may be required to view).

Good looking guys, but what is up with some of those clothes? Looks like they were shopping in the women's section of the Goodwill store. LOL Seriously, it looks like they are wearing women's clothing, and not nice stuff either, ugly women's clothing. Couldn't they just take shots of then Nude? I'd rather see that anyway.

They're mostly wearing overpriced clothes from snooty fashion designers that most real men wouldn't be caught dead in! The description of the clothes worn by Brian McBride:
[quote] He's in a Prada cotton shirt, $360, and pants, $390.
Did you see those pants? You'll never see anyone wearing them out on the streets. Utterly ridiculous.

That turquoise thing that the Argentine player is wearing takes the cake. I woudn't wear it -- but I'm not a soccer star either!! No doubt Beckham has one in his wardrobe!

If you like these, or not as the case seems to be, check out Beckham on the cover of GQ's Collectors Edition for May 2002.
Beaded underwear, bold stripped suspenders dangling from factory-faded baggy jeans strategically lowered to half-way down his ass, glam-rock hairdoo and fingernail paint.
Among sports superstars only David B. could get away with this and still collect his salary.
Personally he could still be my soccer-buddy...just leave V. Spice out of the picture.

Who buys that Shiite?
Boy #2 in the slide-show however.....hmmmmm. Indeed!
I'll take three of those anytime. Or all at the same time.
Purrrrrrrr.

I tell you, each soccer game you watch brings a new hottie in your life. No wonder this is the world's most popular sport!
Am watching Paraguay-South Africa on the replay this morning and Wow--Roque Santa Cruz of Paraguay! Shown
here with Owen Hargreaves, a cute Canadian who plays for England.
But those Paraguayans, with their dark hair, dark eyes and smoldering good looks... mmm!

The Brian McBride caption is hilarious. Besides just looking like a circuit boy, he's "on the fence" and wearing a prada shirt.

Looking at the extremely high-priced, gawd-awful-ugly shirts and pants the soccer boys are wearing (e.g., the $400 Prada cotton shirt that looked like polyester - women's polyester - I refuse to recognize the existence of the little turqouise number the Argentine is modeling), I have only this question:
Is high fashion simply a means for confiscating money from the stupid rich?

Someone in Denmark thinks the way we do! Here's
\"The World Cup's Best Looking Men\" from the Danish on-line newspaper, BT. Click on the name in the right side of the screen to view the pics. For those who don't read Danish, a little help on navigation: billedseries means "picture series"; Næste is "next"; Forrige is "back". Enjoy! It's a nice way to spend a little time ...

Please, please, please. Post links, NOT huge pictures. They make the board load more slowly and take up too much visual space. We have asked people to restrict actual images to small ones.
We do not want to turn off the ability to directly post an image as a link, but will if we get overrun by these huge images. Thanks for your understanding and cooperation.

Wisconsin's Nick Van Sicklen has a certain charm ...
But I'm still partial to

Ned Grabavoy.

Is there a law that goalies have to be hot?
Dallas and LA played to a one-all draw in a game that could only be interesting to a soccer junky - not many in the US of A judging by the "crowd" in the stands that could only be made to look as such by some very
focused camera work.
But the goalies on display could make any fan of hunky athletes drool.
Unfortunately the Burns' foxy
D J Countess was injured in the second half but his replacement
Jeff Cassar was perfectly acceptable both as a defender and as eye-candy.
But the real show-stopper was Galaxy's ever gorgeous blond bomber
Kevin Hartman who made an incredible double save late in the second half - once to block an attempted goal, bouncing the ball back to the kicker, then scrambling up to block an attempted crossing kick by the same player, all seemingly in one fluid motion that would have made anyone in the premier league proud.
One could quibble and say he should have caught it the first time instead of batting it. But quibblers aren't on the field making the play. I thought it was fantastic...and so is he. wink

This is quite possibly my second favorite website in the world (after Outsports of course). I can, and have, spent hours going through all the various pictures of my favorite Metros players (Clint Mathis, Tim Howard, Mike Petke-too bad he went to DC...)

Nice link to the
Metrofanatics site metro. Now why didn't I guess you were a fan. Duuhh!
This photo of Clint Mathis pretty much sums up his personality. Love 'im or hate 'im, the guy has the attitude it takes to be a striker. Just wish he'd had more playing time in the Cup:)
I think Eddie Pope is my favorite Met. Steady Eddie, boring but dependable, and strong as an ox in the backfield.
Love the photos of Steve Jolley. In another photo he has thighs like tree trunks - a soccer specialty.
This link to Tony Meola is a pleasant surprise. Not many sites give a historical photo perspective of previous players. Should be a tradition IMO.

Real Madrid is chock full of talent as well as hunks. Raul is a classic heartthrob, Beckham's a cute ham, Zedine oozes sexuality, even Ronaldo's gapped teeth look good.
But the most adorable IMO is Roberto Carlos.
