The wrestler in the blue USA singlet is a senior in high school at the school I teach at. He is the #1 ranked high school wrestler in the country. Not sure the poster realized these two are only in high school but I'm uncomfortable with unsuspecting 17 year olds being included in a "hot wrestlers" post.
I think I can see your point and I'm not at all for sexualizing children, which I assume would be the basis for your objection. I'm wondering how the posting of this pic sexualizes him?
I guess it is objectifying him. I watch a lot of wrestling and hear allegedly straight commentators comment on the physique of the wrestler all the time. That's no more, or less, objectifying than posting a pic of a wrestler in a thread meant for pics of wrestlers. It's all a comment on physical attributes with no consideration for any intellectual aspects.
I also understand that you're held to a different standard than the general public. You'd probably be fired for ogling high school wrestlers. I can buy a ticket and attend a match and do it to my heart's content.
So I am curious whether your point is based on a greater societal ethic, or was a reaction by you as a teacher, or maybe something else.
