It was interesting to see how long she lasted. Every time they got one of the designers talking about her it was always problem, problem, problem, drama followed by "but she can WALK!". So, she has motor skills in her brain, but not that little piece called "Impulse Control".

She could have been directly responsible for the elimination of Kara and Jay very early in the competition.

BTW - Jay is very cool. I don't really understand his personal style, but he'd be a fun guy to hang around.
Allen
Tonight looks awesome on Project Runway. I am wondering how they will reinvent the United State Postal service garment.

...and i'm wondering how i'm going to juggle all the tv time tonight. the 9 pm lineup: w's little speech, duke-wake ballgame, P Runway. what a dilemma.

guess i'll tape Runway, watch the ballgame, tell w to kiss my ass.

perhaps i need a life...?
Sportnerd
No, that sounds like the proper perspective to have on those three items.

It will definitely be fun to see how they handle a practical garment. One of the better designers may lose out to Wendy, who has a more conservative approach.

Jay - S&M Delivery Man from 2050
Austin - the Pretty in Pink Postal Petunia
Kara Saun - Cleavage, cleavage, cleavage

I'm sure the outfits will look great, but what will the Postmaster General say?

What a great episode last night! We got to see

1. Wendy have a nervous breakdown.
2. Robert's cute naked booty.
3. Austin workin the runway for Jay.
4. Jay telling Austin 'that is the butchest you have looked since you got here' wearing Jays postal uniform design.

I think this was my most favorite episode yet!

Mike biggrin.gif
kujhawker
I haven't been watching it regularly, but I got all of last nights episode. Quite interesting. Watching the breakdown was interesting, watching her pace outside talking to herself with her hands was funny and embarrasing, because I have been known to do that. Truly enjoyed the shot of Robert's naked butt.
batboy
I will miss Robert's butt. frown
Brent
I don't recall seeing that much man-ass on TV/basic cable--ever. I was just hoping the mirror shot would reveal the other side of him. So where are all the fundamentalist protests?!

Perhaps they don't want to admit they're watching such a gay show.
Sportnerd
I had a chance to watch the episode last night, and it was a lot of fun. You just know the producers had a hand in matching Wendy with Austin and Robert with Jay. Two very different ends of the interaction spectrum. On another note, Austin and Jay should avoid wearing shorts. Jay's reaction to being sweaty was pretty funny.

It was easy to see that Robert was going to lose. Wendy learned her lesson about finishing outfits and Robert did not. His design looked more like a company softball uniform.

Austin and Wendy are the ones in trouble next week. Neither one of them has shown enough edge in their designs to show up at the Grammies.
TheOtherFSU
I finally got a chance to watch this week's episode (I tivo-ed it and waited til my BF got back from a trip).

As we were watching it, we both said this is one show we're really gonna miss. I swear they could combine Project Runway with Big Brother cuz I'd love to watch the antics that go on behind the scenes in that hotel where they're staying.

Robert's ass ... hot. I'm gonna miss him. Austin needs his own show after this because there's something about him that is truly mesmerizing... you've got to admit he's as unique as they come. I loved when he was talking about Wendy being found muttering to herself while wandering the streets. If Wendy makes it to the final three, I'm gonna be pissed. I like Jay a lot too, and if it's him, Austin and Kara Saun at the end, I'll be happy. Kara Saun just continues to be amazingly consistent with winning designs. She is so talented. I don't see how she's not going to win.

Overall it was a great episode. Here's my prediction: we're going to find out that Wendy drew that moustache on her daughter's photo herself!
TheOtherFSU
Well, Fashion Week began in New York Friday... and all of the final four contestants showed up and had their collections on display. Only 3 of them are actual finalists but Bravo included the 4th to act as a shill so no one will know the real Final 3 until Wednesday's show airs.
TheOtherFSU
Wendy? Ugh.

There is something about Nancy O'Dell that bugs me. I can't figure it out... I don't really know her other than seeing her occasionally while flipping the channels, but she is annoying and I don't know why.

I'm gonna miss Austin. But, my god, to have that talent at age 23 is really something. He'll go far.

Jay cracks me up... love both him and Kara Saun. By the way, Parker Posey is the guest judge during the Fashion Week episode the week after next.

Double UGH Wendy. I think the guy that comes in midway and critiques their ideas should keep quiet. Get a much more realistic view of the designers vision and talent that way.

Austin- Funny didn't they kick another contestant off for not sticking to her "own style" enough. Then they boot him cause he won't listen and conform? Who wants a designer that conforms.
He will be missed. I think it's a line from "Boys in the Band"- "It takes a queen to make something pretty!"

Kera San/ Jay- glad they both got thru should be very cool to see their designs.

Wendy- Matronly Wendy- Funny how after the judges bad mouth her they put her through. Well that's reality TV for you leave it up to the producers to pick someone for the best drama

Reunion- Looks like Wendy will pull a meltdown after the group goes lynch-like on her. Should be good.
Sportnerd
I do agree that Wendy is going to have a tough time coming up with a line for Fashion Week. When you are talking free rein for your creativity, she does not come to mind.

On the other hand, Austin never really got it. I think he does some amazing work, but they did not fit the parameters of a lot of the challenges. He beat quite a few people because the techniques were very well executed.

It'll be interesting to see if Kara Saun and Jay lose focus or not. Hopefully, they will not go too over the top given time and money.

One other observation from the show - is it just me, or were Michael Kors' red carpet dresses missing the "edge" that he wanted to see from the designers?
Allen
I was so thrilled that Kara Saun and Jay made it to fashion week. Those two are the best designers on the show hands down.

Wendy ... I am glad she broke out of her mold, but I really need to see her collection before I make a judgement.

Do any of you read Tim's Take on the Projedt Runway web site?
TheOtherFSU
Since all of the Fashion Week judging has already been done, a quick google search revealed this:

"Wendy Pepper, complete with new hairstyle, designed a series of frocks more appropriate for the Midwestern housewife than high fashion models cascading down a New York runway."
fantomas
Wendy, the ewe, got through...awful!

Nancy O'Dell bugs you because she's an alien (or a robot, or both).

Austin--he is mesmerizing, and utterly his own person. His farewell speech was amazing. I hope he goes very, very far. He'll have to make sure, though, that he finds tall, glamorous women with long legs (like Beyoncé or Nicole Kidman) to wear those elegant, coutured gowns of his.

Kara Saun and Jay!!! I'm so glad they made it through; I knew they would. Wendy has no chance against either of them. But I could see her designing for the matrons of Washington, or Princess "Rottweiler," whichever opportunity comes first.
Allen
Well, here is a review of what happened w/ the top 4 during Fashion Week.

Here is the article! biggrin.gif

One more thing to add ... Photos from the Fashion Show. biggrin.gif

Interesting...

Too bad I have to wait for two weeks to see their entire collections. It's too small a sample to form an opinion on what I liked better.

The critics are pretty consistent on who shouldn't win.
Allen
I do have to say that this is a wonderful shot of Robert in the crowd.
Allen
The reunion show is on tonight!! I am so looking forward to it!! biggrin.gif
Sportnerd
Well, that was certainly entertaining. I hope all you Robert fans enjoyed the out take of him in the work room.

In case you are curious, here is the article that had Jay going after Vanessa.

Pop Gurls

She obviously thinks highly of herself. At the very end is a telling statement from Pop Gurls.

QUOTE
PopGurls.com stands by this interview. Contrary to what Ms. Riley said during the February 16, 2005, Project Runway Reunion Special, no one affiliated with PopGurls.com has ever been an employee of Vanessa Riley in any capacity.
Liar! Liar! Pants on fire!
Allen
Wow. The whole show was hysterical and eye opening too.

Vanessa is a BITCH! Yeah, Wendy is not the most liked person, but man, Vanessa just ragged on her THE WHOLE TIME!

By the way ... Wendy does look pretty good. The new hair color looks nice and she doesn't look like a fuddy duddy.

I cannot WAIT to see the fashion show!! biggrin.gif
Mariner Duck Guy
As much as I like Kara Saun, I think Jay is going to win the competition. Wendy is just there because she's good for drama. And no makeover can make up for her ugly personality.

Vanessa has serious issues.
Allen
I think I've mentioned this before, but do any of you read Tim Gunn's take on each episode. They are HILARIOUS and honest. I love it!

Tim's comments about the whole Project Runway experience.

QUOTE
What is the one thing that you wish the audience could have seen that didn’t make the final cut?

The absurdity and hilarity of Wendy trying to talk Austin, Jay, Kara Saun, and Robert into using the #&%$!* orthopedic shoe for the runway presentation of the USPS designs. In episode eight, I’m shown holding the shoe and admonishing Wendy for even thinking about using it for her look. That was after I walked into the room and found her trying to rally her peers to use the shoe, too. The darting glances and dropped jaws were hilarious to see, but Wendy’s campaign was irksome. \"Just a minute,\" I declared. \"It’s one thing to dress down your own look, but don’t try to do that to anyone else. It’s a fashion show, not a softball game!\"
Sportnerd
And how about Mario's response to question about Tim's first impression.

"I thought he was a hot b*tch."

When he continued, he almost stuck his foot in his mouth by saying "...when I am that age". Good thing he caught himself.
Allen
Hey! This came from the Project Runway website. What do you think of this?

QUOTE
while we're discussing Wendy's strategy...anyone else think that the blue eyeshadow, bad dye job, thick glasses and blechy clothing was more strategy? To invoke pity and make her appear as a weak contendor, so that the other designers, not thinking of her as a real challenge, would be more inclined to confide in her about themselves and their designs?
This person has a great point.
TheOtherFSU
All I can say is I can't wait for the DVD to come out. I bet the behind-the-scenes stuff they must have is incredible.

It's hard to get a group of people together that size and not have a single one of them stand up for Wendy. That proves what a bitch she really is. Something about her rubbed me the wrong way from moment one.

BTW, did anyone catch Nancy O'Dell wearing Wendy's dress at the Grammys? I didn't see it so I'm wondering if it ended up happening.
Allen
I briefly saw a pic of her in the halter, but I didn't see the rest.
Sportnerd
I think "tweak" means "gut" to her.

Mariner Duck Guy
I wonder if she's really going to let Austin design her Oscars gown!
Allen
Maybe w/ a little "tweaking." wink

I've missed you guys! I'm so glad I'm back home. I was on holiday and missed the past two episodes. I thought for sure I missed the finale and am damn glad I will be able to see it this Wednesday. It took all my might not to go to an internet cafe and see the results or read y'all's hilarious comments. OK, so I need to catch up on my own remarks. I am so sad that Austin got cut. sad.gif I think his dress was a bit too Helen Lawson sans the mini skirt. BTW - I loved Austin as a model in the postal challenge. Oh that Wendy, double-triple ugh! And those faces she makes really irritate me. I just want to slap that blue eye shadow off her face. I guess if I were forced to give her a complement it would be that of the two challenges she won, they were two of the more important ones, in terms of getting your designs shown to a wide audience - the BR dress and the one seen on the Grammys. I loved Jaybird's dress. I didn't understand how the top was dated or didn't look modern. I guess I don't have that keen designer's eye like Kara, Tim, and even Robio who originally pointed it out. I am completely shocked that Jay did not win any of the challenges. I do understand how Kara Saun's dress-pant combo is dated and was surprised that she didn't listen to Tim's comments. She usually does. Between Jay and Kara, it is hard to decide who may win. The only thing I've noticed is that Jay's designs are slightly more varied while Kara usually has a plunging neck and back line. But I do not see that as a deciding factor.
In regard to the reunion-clip episode, I am surprised about Vanessa's reaction. And as for that interview, after you get passed that one low talent level comment, the only person she goes after is Heidi Klum. And who cares about that? The interview also mentions how all the people behind the scenes are really hott. Even the camera guys. It does explain why Austin was waving bye to someone as he left the runway stage. tongue.gif I've seen Vanessa out at (straight-trendy) bars here in Houston and she looks great. Her reaction was very juvenile. And that (Tim) hot bitch comment was fantastic. Tim makes me want to go to Parsons SD. Finally, I'm surprised no one attacked Wendy physically and Kevin John looked guilty as sin when confronted about the drawing on Wendy's picture. Hell I would have torn that picture into bits and thrown it in her face and then stomped on her foot! Is that wrong? biggrin.gif

I just heard there was a Project Runway skit on SNL. Did anyone see it? What happened?
shore
My beau and I, recovering from a whirlwind tour of Italy, laid on the sofa last night and saw the last two episodes of P Runway--they were so good, we couldn't turn it off after the first one. We loved little Rob's butt shot and wish we had seen more, or more episodes when they showed him like that.

I personally like Wendy in a weird way. She is wacky, but I also think she tries to do something different from the rest. Austin is just a character, and when he was voted off and they showed his past designs I was surprised that indeed he had never broken his mould--everything was voluminous, full, flowing, so seventies glamour. Kara, who does not look to be 37, has talent, obviously, but what was that bad piece of advice to Jay about adding another layer to the top? I think his problem with that design was the fabric more than the look or cut, I think that's where it was dated. His skirt was great and he should have continued that theme of layering colors to the top

Don't know if I'll see the final, but last nights episode were fun.
TheOtherFSU
The Project Runway skit on SNL was funny, but way too short. In fact, it was the last skit of the night and lasted only about 3 minutes.

Hillary Swank played Heidi Klum and was really funny. Horatio Sans played Jay and -- oh my god -- just the look was hilarious. He came out in Jay's signature huge reddish-orange glasses and flamboyant outfit. Maya Rudolph played an emotionless Kara Saun and did it perfectly. Maya said something like, "Oh wow, we have only 30 seconds to prepare an entire collection of gowns?," and then she grabs a blank sheet of paper and -- just a couple of seconds later -- presents an elaborately drawn, perfect gown complete with color swatches. It was sooo funny. Rachel Dratch portrayed Wendy as a complete nutjob full of hysterics with giant scissors in her hands, and the hair-makeup-glasses combo was 100% Wendy.

I don't know the name of the actor who played Austin, but he was good (not great) and the part was very brief. Austin is so over-the-top funny himself that it's hard to recreate that.

Overall, quite funny portrayal of them on SNL, but much too brief. I think this means Project Runway is a smash though ... when you're spoofed on SNL, you've got people talking.

BTW, thanks to a TiVo search, I was able to catch Heidi, Robert, Alexandra and Nora on a full hour of the Jane Pauly show (the first time I've had to sit through it... I wouldn't recommend it unless the guests are someone you like). Anyway, it was a full hour with those 4 plus Michael Kors and was pretty fun. The 3 designers designed an outfit each for Jane.

I'm about to pee my hotpants! eek!
Allen
So, from the peanut gallery that watches the show, who do you think will win tonight??

Kara Saun

Jay

or Wendy??

I am still torn between Kara Saun & Jay.
Sportnerd
I think you can eliminate Wendy from the running. The reviews posted by journalists at the show were universally disappointed in her work. On the other hand, they were divided between Jay and Kara. It will probably come down to style preference.
W.
I don't think Wendy has a chance in hell. I hope Jay wins, but I doubt he will. I'm picking Kara Saun.
StPtGator
I might have said Kara Saun but now that I know she has been in the business for so long and even held an impromptu show on the sidewalk outside the tents during Fashion Week a few years ago and never made it big have to think maybe the business just doesn't dig her lines. So Jay may pull it out.

As much as I like Kara, I think Jay will win the show. I just hope Wendy doesn't win.
Niner_Fan
I agree with MDB....I love KaraSaun, but I think Jay will win.

And while I hope Wendy doesn't win it, I wouldn't be surprised if she pulled it out.
Allen
Seeing the photos of Wendy's line, I highly doubt she will win.
MarinerFan
I hope Jay wins his designs seemed to be the most original throught the whole show!

I am torn as to watch this or Lost tonight???
Niner_Fan
Watch them both... Bravo is replaying the two hour finale at 9 and 11.

Allen, she probably won't win, but crazier things have happened, like her winning the BR challenge, and making it to the final three.

Here's a link to Austin's thought of the show and the final three... Seeing Scarlett

Just watched the finale -- it could have been done in one hour instead of two, since I don't think a lot of the drama was necessary, but it was an interesting ending (will avoid posting spoilers for anybody who TIVO'd it)...
StPtGator
The 2 hours were great. That may have been the best reality finale since the original Survivor.
Guess I won't talk about details until tomorrow. The drama was great!
TheOtherFSU
Yeah I think it needed to be 2 hours. And I agree... it was a terrific finale. In the end, I think the choice of the winner was great.

The good news was when they revealed there's going to be a Project Runway 2.

Wendy's model Melissa was the best model -- by far -- throughout the series.

And since when do midwestern housewives flaunt their nipples?
shore
Oh God, please, who won? You are all so kind not to spoil it for westcoasters, but now it's another day and I still don't know the answer. From the few reactions I would expect it was Kara, Jay coming in second and Wendy last. But I would vote Jay, Wendy, Kara.
kujhawker
Jay won and I am happy for him. Kara had a very well put together collection and was a close second. I did lose respect for Kara over the whole shoe thing, she was definetly trying to get around the rules. Wendy was gleeful with that incident because it proved they were all playing the game. I actually liked Wendy's collection. With the exception of the see-through top it seemed like something I would actually see women wear in my area.
