I've been playing around with YouTube and have suddenly realized that just about every music video ever made is posted there now.

I thought I'd share some of my favorites.

Favorites of all time;
Pet Shop Boys - Being Boring (My All-time Favorite)
Bjork - It's Oh So Quiet
Fat Boy Slim - Weapon of Choice (Christopher Walken)
Madonna - Don't Tell Me
Robbie Williams - Rock DJ (Stop at 3:00 if you're at all squeamish)
Reba McEntire & Linda Davis - Does He Love You? (Mainly for the ending)
Jordy - Dur Dur D'etre un Bébé (90's guilty pleasure)
Take That - It Only Takes a Minute Girl (Ditto)
Brad Paisley - Celebrity
Jamiroquai - Virtual Insanity
Coldplay - Yellow

And I thought I'd throw in my the Top 10 from my favorite band.
Travis - Flowers in the Window (Franny wrote for his pregnant wife)
Travis - Sing
Travis - Writing To Reach You
Travis - Why Does It Always Rain On Me?
Travis - More Than Us
Travis - Driftwood (My favorite Travis song)
Travis - Love Will Come Through
Travis - Turn
Travis - The Beautiful Occupation (Anti-War)
Travis - All I Want To Do Is Rock (How cute was Franny in the 90's?)

Okay one more, speaking of the 90's...
Travis - Tied to the 90's

Maddog loves Jordy, huh? Parlez-vous francais?

Well, the two videos I have loved throughout the years are Animotion's "Obsession" and Eric Clapton's Unplugged version of "Tears in Heaven".

Oui,

Well he's 16 now so he's almost legal. smile.gif

They used to play the video non-stop at Revolver in West Hollywood. That and all of the Take That videos.

I remember seeing "All I Wanna Do Is Rock" on some video channel once. Near the end of the video I screamed, "Just drive around them!" A few seconds later, I was like, "Wow - she did!"

It'll take me a while to come up with my list, though.

LOL...take your time Lex. What I posted took me about 3 hours to verify the best quality and quickest download times. smile.gif

Looking forward to your choices because you have great taste in music and I'm sure you'll throw in things I've forgotten.
Lexington
I'll give you this one while I work on it. Probably an early indication that all was not "straight" in Lex-land.

Go West - \"We Close Our Eyes\"

Some great videos. Love Celebrity--Paisley is very cute. How about the George Michael restroom triute?

Ballard Boy
Lexington--Great call on the "Go West" video! I remember watching the video as a high-schooler in the mid 80s and thinking the guy was hot! (He is, althought his dancing looks pretty ridiculous twenty years later...) Watching the video again triggered some vague memory of a good-looking classmate of mine dancing around the locker room in homage to the video...

Grace Jones, Slave to the Rhythm
Lexington
The lead singer's name is Peter Cox (giggle!). I recall reading an interview with Kevin Godley, who directed the video. He said that Peter pretty much hated everything about the video shoot - he didn't like not playing an instrument (he plays keyboards and drums), he hated hefting around that wrench (and whoever directed the "King of Wishful Thinking" video made him do it AGAIN in one scene), and he apparently enjoyed wearing hip trendy clothes, and thus hated having to dance around in his sweaty undershirt. Kevin did say that Peter was very happy with the results of the video, though.

Here's what I came up. I probably forgot "my favorite one of all time", because that's just how my mind works. Don't know what any of these videos have in common except "neat stuff to look at"...

Kenna - \"Hellbent\"
R.E.M. - \"Imitation of Life\"
Daft Punk - \"Da Funk\"
Daft Punk - \"Fresh\"
(sequel to previous video - nice to know everything worked out)
Belfegore - \"All That I Wanted\"
New Order - \"Bizarre Love Triangle\"
Art of Noise - \"Close (to the Edit)\"
Duran Duran - \"Is There Something I Should Know?\"
Eels - \"Novocaine for the Soul\"
Frankie Goes to Hollywood - \"Two Tribes\"
Tribe Called Quest - \"Scenario\"
Tubes - \"Talk to Ya Later\"
Elastica - \"Connection\"
They Might Be Giants - \"Particle Man\" (TT version)

I found the following to be thought-provoking and, of course, fun eye candy:

Madonna- Drowned World/Substitute For Love (banned in England for its references to paparazzi and Princess Di)

Alanis Morisette- Crazy

Prodigy- Smack My Bitch Up

Marilyn Manson- Beautiful People

Melissa Ethridge- Come To My Window

Guns 'n Roses- November Rain
Maddog
I love both Slave to the Rhythm and Close to the Edit. Thanks for the fun 80's flashbacks!
J eddie
Wow! I'm either old or really out of the loop.Melissa Ethridge is one of the few names that I recognized and actually like.My personal favorite is one that I haven't seen in years but it is very sweet...."Hello" by Lionel Richie.
ursaminorjim
So many great videos have already been listed! And here's some more!

Blancmange - \"Lose your love\"
Another brilliant video by Zbigniew Rybczynski (sp?), the genius behind "Close (To the edit)" by The Art of Noise and the second version of "Opportunities (Let's make lots of money)" by Pet Shop Boys). And for their best song, to boot!

David Byrne - \"Don't fence me in\"
From the Red Hot + Blue album. Most of the video is your typical David Byrne: "quirky" and "clever" yet still goofy and sweet. But it's the final shot that does me in. I swear, every time it hits that last chorus, I get chills and weep uncontrollably. Astonishingly effective.

Kylie Minogue - \"Come into my world\"
Really, I could do an entire list of videos directed by Michel Gondry. And this is a prime example of why Kylie has so thoroughly replaced Madonna in my heart. wink

Pulp - \"Bad cover version\"
This one is so genius on so many levels. Granted, it may make a smidgen more sense if you're familiar with Pulp's original version. And if you're familiar with the litany of UK popstars that are represented. But you'll still giggle.

Coil - \"Tainted love\"
From the sublime to the ridiculous to the absolutely terrifying. Hearing and seeing this video back in '84 really left a mark on me. Still does, actually. Watch for Marc Almond's cameo as the Angel of Death.

Björk - \"All is full of love\"
What I said before about how the list could be made entirely of Michel Gondry videos? Well, ditto for my beloved Björk, and then some. This one's just stunning.

Pet Shop Boys - \"Flamboyant\"
They have so many great videos, but here's one that just wasn't seen much. It should've been an enormous worldwide hit and spent weeks at number one in every country.

The Jesus and Mary Chain - \"Just like honey\"
Ah, sweet simplicity.

Lamb - \"b-line\"
Swingin' folk-jazz-drum'n'bass freakout BAM!
ursaminorjim
And one to grow on!
sportinlife
Posted this in another thread but hey, what the heck. This is where it belongs even though my "favorite" videos would classical music (anything composed before 1950's) this one was a revelation of sorts because, though I lived through the era I never experienced actually being at Woodstock. So here is a piece of history and perhaps the best guitar riffs known to man: Jimi Hendrix does \"The Star Spangled Banner\" and Purple Rain. Crazy

This has always been one of my favorites to watch. Managed to find the 12" vinyl of it some years ago. Worth it for the cover art.... smile.gif
FeverDog
After all these years I still get wet thinking about that U2 video for "Numb." Something about the static camera and the bellydancer giving Bono a foot caress to his face and the wisps of smoke and the rope and the tongue lick and the low-key throb of the song itself is just so...erotic. Too much is not enough.
ursaminorjim
Totally agreed, Fever Dog (although it's The Edge who's singing, not Bono wink ).

That bit where he gets the straps of his tank top snipped is another strangely hot moment - it's done so matter-of-factly, so in control even down to the way the scissors get passed from hand to hand. It's not so much surgical as it is domineering.

Numb
ursaminorjim
Danke!

Damn, that truly is one of their best singles.

Duh, of course. Bono enters the frame to coo the chorus in Edge's ear - another steamy aspect of the vid.

Jeepers. The 80s were well and truly bananas, weren't they. Even the ironic gestures had, like, a high-gloss sincerity.

We need more Grace Joneses in this world, dammit!

(Oooh! Fun fact - "Slave to the rhythm" was originally slated to be Frankie Goes to Hollywood's second single, but they passed.)

You know, ever since I've been watching the Youtube.com revolution, there was this one music video that caught my eye. It splices clips of Brokeback Mountain to Nickelback's "Far Away". I think I've watched 10,000 times out of the nearly 60,000 views it has gotten, as of today.

\"Far Away\" to BBM
Allen
I just love this video. It's so sweet.

It's Bright Eyes and \"The First Day of My Life.\"

I've got a VHS full of nothing but Morrissey videos that I love, especially the one that is a tribute to James Dean. When they used to play it in bars, I'd sing along - and people thought I was nuts! biggrin.gif

O.K., totally campy and definately bubblegum, but I love it! Video's like this remind me how gay I am.
